With only three ingredients salt, potatoes and extra virgin olive oil, and you are rewarded with a divinely creamy and buttery dish of mashed potatoes. Yukon Gold potatoes have a naturally unique buttery flavor with no butter added! Ordinary salt is one of the ingredients here. Use any salt you like, but (imo) great salt will give even more great flavor! I can't wait to try this with different varieties of salt to discover the differences. I think this recipe leaves lots of room for experimenting with flavored or infused extra virgin olive oil and various salts. Experimenting is half the fun! Let me know what you use please. I am so interested! I do not know much about Kosher or Jewish food and cooking but I think these might even work well there as well. Discovered in Gourmet Magazine, Paris! 9/2008.

Though I'm not particularly a fan of canned asparagus, this casserole version produces a mighty fine dish...it's all in the sauce.

Another one from grandma's recipe box.... This is from an old newspaper and at the top says "Friendly Gatherings, No matter what is traditional in your family holidays perhaps you might look to a change by trying one of our traditions." Grandma started making this for part of our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner when I was about 8... Once I was old enough to be in the kitchen cooking, about 9, this was always my dish to prepare....

Crunch Potato Wedges tossed in rosemary. Potatoes are found in the mid-west US region.

    Recipe #203668

A tasty potato dish for those occasions when you just don’t have much time and you are looking for a shortcut. The potatoes are not peeled, there is no onion or garlic to peel and chop, mince or crush and all the herbs are dried. Preparation involves little more than pre-heating the oven, getting your dried herbs out of the cupboard and cutting the potatoes into thin slices. Vary the herbs according to your preferences. This dish is best made just before serving. I was inspired to develop this recipe, the particular combination of herbs, from memories of a similar dish I ate many years ago in a restaurant in Hampstead Heath, in England, so it is, I suppose an English-Australian recipe. It was served with Onion, Apple and Sage Pie. In view of Bekah49036's comment in her review that her potatoes were too salty, do add salt to taste. People's tastes differ SO much! I've adjusted the two salts in the ingredients to now read "to taste". Thanks Bekah49036! :)

A simple recipe which I found in the June 2002 issue of the 'Australian Good Taste' magazine, in a bring-a-dish for eight menu plan. Obviously, the recipe can be scaled down. The recipe specifies that it can be made "up to an hour before serving", but I cannot see why it couldn't be made further ahead than that. When I make this, I'll be adding chopped onions and garlic in step two, and some lemon juice and dried thyme, probably when adding the chickpeas in step three.

Yummy on fish or veggies! Found on What's cooking America and adapted to fit my family's tastes. Very indicative of Scandinavian and some Europian food as well as the areas that have been influenced by those countries. You can make this full fat or reduced by altering the type of sour cream or yogurt you choose.

    Recipe #352554

Straightforward mac n cheese made w/ a white sauce and using plain yogurt in the recipe and reserved cheese topping. I left out salt on this and let ea. person add their own salt and extra pepper at the table. Also, I freshly grate my nutmeg and use NY State Cheddar. This is a starting point for mac and cheese. Some embellish it with tomato, other cheeses, onion, green or sweet red peppers, buttered bread crumbs or cracker topping etc. I adapted it from "Now....Your'e Cooking" website.
