    OAMC - Poultry Plan

I love OAMC for all the extra time I have to spend with my family. It's easy to cook a little extra during a weekend or double up during the week. All these recipes are good from the freezer! Some of these recipes don't show that they are OAMC or freezer compatible but I have either done them myself or have been told by other chefs here how to go about it. If you ever have any questions, please come over to the Cooking on a Budget: OAMC, Make Ahead, Freezing & More

I'm not even sure where I received this recipe, all i know is that whenever i make it, it doesn't last long. I made this for my younger brothers and sisters and they devoured it! It's simple to make, and very healthy. You can actually get your kids to eat their vegetables and enjoy it!

I needed something to make for my finace who works away from home. I never know when he is coming home so I need something I can re-heat or freeze if he doesnt come. He loves chicken wings so I made these up in my head Fri night and they were great, he wants more for lunches now.

    Recipe #22140

Comfort food that serves a bunch so invite lots of friends or family to help eat it. Freezes very well so you can separate it into several meals if you have a small family or 2 really good sized ones for a family of 4 or 5. Prep time includes boiling the chicken.

    Recipe #27997

This savoury soup can easily be made in bigger batches and will last very well in the freezer.

    Recipe #28160

Yes, this seems weird. But it DOES work! Try this method of cooking for use in salads or any dish that calls for cooked chicken. It makes moist, flavorful meat -- the flavor isn't all boiled out into the broth, and it doesn't get the sort of carmelized flavor of roasting, which I don't care for in a chicken salad. If you do Once-A-Month Cooking, this is a great way to prepare a lot of chicken for the freezer. The 90 minute cooking time is actually 60 minutes of standing after (approximately) 30 minutes to boil the water twice.

This recipe was given to my MIL by her Great Grandmother, who immigrated from Poland. I swear this soup has magical powers, as it has nursed my husband to health from countless colds, flus, and even a total hip replacement!! This also freezes very well, so make in advance of flu season!

This base is divided into 3 portions which can be frozen for up to 3 months. It's used as the base for Mustard and Bacon Casserole, Green Curry and Moroccan Style Casserole (all recipes posted here on Zaar). All you do when you arrive home tired from work is add the extra ingredients to the thawed base and you have a great meal for 4 in 20 minutes! What could be easier than that!

If you love good, old-fashioned, down home chicken and dumplings, this is the real thing! Note that this dumpling recipe makes "a bunch of dumplin's" because around here, most folks want more dumplin's than chicken. (prep time includes cooling time for cooked chicken.)

    Recipe #52253

This is a great potluck supper idea. While at college, my niece would visit me and we'd spend the day cooking to stockpile her dorm freezer for the month with 3-5 different recipes. This was her favorite! Instead of using a carrerole dish, we would evenly divide the ingredients among sealable, boilable bags (omitting the stuffing), label and freeze. On busy study nights, she would reheat them in the microwave.

I would rather not use chicken to make stock for soups, but I haven't been able to find another way to make a tasty lower-sodium soup. I got this recipe from The Headache Prevention Cookbook but decreased the amount of salt significantly since sodium is supposed to be really bad for people with headaches, and people in general, according to Joel Fuhrman, M.D., author of Eat To Live.

My daughter and I came up with this recipe today. Prep time is approx. And the yield is approx also.

Cooking this Chicken Curry this way is less expensive because groceries are bought in bulk, meals are planned, and nothing is wasted. And it's "from scratch" even if you did pull it out of the freezer! Cook time includes the warm up from the freezer

From the freezer to yummy dinner. I add the red pepper flakes, but original recipes doesn't call for it. This recipe is for 3 chickens and can all be frozen for your future meal planning

Easy meal to thrown together the night before and throw in the oven when you get home...or have your little one do it after school. This is also good frozen into individual serving sizes

This is a make ahead (Once a Month Cooking) recipe that is bound to help those working families out there who want a home made meal in 30 minutes. You just need to set aside a bit of time on a weekend or evening to do a few meals and you definitely won't regret it!

Another Once a month meal that's sure to please. My little girl likes these because they pick up easily in her hands! *I revised this recipe based on several folks pointing out that I had made a mistake on the amount of cream cheese. Thank you so much for the input!

This is great to serve on the day or to use as a make ahead meal. Why wait for the holidays to roast turkey! Makes for great sandwiches, Turkey Taco Salads, Casseroles, or Turkey Tortilla Soup!
