I have several friends who are allergic to edibles in the onion and garlic families, so I've begun collecting recipes for them. These recipes do not include those which use any seasoning mixes, salad dressing mixes, seasoned breadcrumbs, ketchup/catsup, soup mixes, or worchestershire sauce - all of which almost always contain onions/garlic.
Onion/garlic family: leeks, shallots, scallions, all types of onion and garlic.
I promise this is one of the nicest ways to enjoy quality tomatoes and basil. Like I say, don't make this if you can't get hold of home-grown or vine-ripened tomatoes. It's not worth doing. And don't use your tomatoes from the fridge.
This is a recipe my hubby has fallen in love with and recreated the next day at home. He requested I post it and I must admit, it is very good soup and I’m not a fan of spicy foods but this was fantastic. In his words....“Friday I went to Phillpots, which is a small takeaway "lunch bar". I love their soup and went for the sweet potato, chili and chicken soup. It was so damn good that whilst we were at the supermarket on Saturday, I thought would try to make it. So, I used the obvious ingredients and added a little salt, pepper and cream and voila. It was near on a perfect match! Not only was it good, it's SOOOOOO easy to make, so hope you give it a go. You wont be disappointed ;)”
This is incredible for company or just to make on a quiet afternoon. The taste is Fabulous! I found this in a recent food magazine flyer and played around with it to make it healthier, without losing any flavor.
This is one of my personal FAVS!! Penne tossed in a mascarpone cream sauce with cremini mushrooms,
asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes and walnuts.
From Cafe Lucci :O) If you plan on trying this don't skimp on those ingredients -- The flavors from the mushrooms and tomatoes blend so wonderfully!! When you salt and pepper to taste, the sauce thins out real well so test it out after mixing it with the pasta ;O) This recipe says it's for 2 -- I put 2-4 because the portions are huge!!! Enjoy!
Delicious twist on breaded chicken strips. The coconut crust is delicate, so these are best served up hot, as soon as they're out of the frying pan, and everything else is already on the plate. A thick, mild curry sauce spooned over top is a wonderful addition. I made these up off the top of my head, but the flavors are all borrowed from Thai cuisine.
I noticed very few recipes here on Zaar which use edible lavender so I decided to find some really good ones and post them! I didn't even know you could EAT lavender until I read Rita L's page long ago. Now I notice that one of my FAVE restaurants uses it! brazosbelle.com This recipe is from GreenEmporium.com
This recipe is beautifully simple, low-fat and very good for you! It is perfect as a main course filler or a side dish wth your roast dinner, or just as a light lunch. The ingredients give it a full flavour and optimum health too!
"These Oriental-flavored kabobs, served with a tasty dipping sauce, are special enough to make for guests at your next backyard get-together. Sometimes, I substitute salmon for the chicken." By Kelly Townsend. From TOH. Marinating time is not included.
This is from Recipe 911 and a Tyler Florence recipe. The topic was speedy dinners for 1. The salmon is pan seared and then roasted in the oven and served over a spicy cucumber salad. Increase the oven time to increase doneness.
