The first time I made this everyone was skeptical, but it was loved by all. The bulgar adds a really nice dimension, and the meat is not missed at all. I serve this with thick slices of french bread. Cooking time includes a lot of time where you don't have to do anything, just let it sit. Adapted from Healthy Cooking for Two.
I don't eat bananas often, even though I love them. When I do have bananas, they have to be very special, and I promise you, these babies are very very special! Try serving them over vanilla frozen yogurt, or with an intensely chocolate ice cream.
Tasty vegetarian croquettes that are lightly fried. I served this as part of a light lunch with several appetizers, including baba gannouj, and hummous, with pita bread, some olives, and a green salad.
I was introduced to this recipe when I was a little girl. Our neighbor used to make it and we would drink it by the capful! (I also ate whole lemons and limes) If you enjoy pungent flavors, drizzle this over a green salad and it should hit the spot. Amounts are approximate, so adjust to your palate.
This is a wonderful, summer salad, bursting with great color and texture. I found this in Food and Wine magazine. I have also made this using "brown" basmati rice, which worked great and added a terrific, nutty flavor.
I take this vegetarian/vegan dish to BBQs and I have to guard it to make sure the omnivores don't scoff the lot before the non-meaters are fed. I usually multiply this several times over as it is so more-ish.
