    Naughty Nibbles for Valentine's Day

Forget Spanish fly or powdered rhino horn; Naughty nibbles features heart-melting, temperature-raising dishes with aphrodisiac ingredients. Strawberries, chocolate, asparagus--even coffee--have long been considered stimulants for the romantic appetite. Don't wait around for Cupid to take charge this February. I got this recipe out of the September issue of BBC Good Food Magazine. I made it last night for a dinner party and it was delicious! I love the herby crust which went really well with the underlying flavor of the Dijon and honey. I served it with a potato gratin and steamed asparagus.

    Recipe #100444

Wonderful punch for a holiday cocktail party. The Holiday Spice Syrup recipe makes 3 cups and can be refrigerated for up to 1 week. The left overs can be used in a great drink recipe: December Stormy #146719 Recipe is by Eben Klemm, the supremely creative bar manager and mixologist at Pico, New York's most elegant Portuguese restaurant. Punch needs to stand at room temperature for 1 hour before serving.

    Recipe #146716

Spicy, tangy, but nice. Delicious on its own, or with ice cream, cheesecake or even on toast. If you like marmalade, then you'll like this. Note:Kumquats are hard to find, and sometimes expensive, so I recommend finding somebody who grows them or grow your own plant- kumquat plants are like chilli plants, they're very easy to grow. It's all definitely worth it, but if anybody finds a suitable substitute be sure to let me know!

This is a delicious and easy chicken recipe. Great for the grill.

This is my favorite dessert, I love it, love it, love it! So simple, so good! We were first served this at a restaurant and I just had to make my own. I suppose you could use pre-made whipped topping, but I like to make my own.

I first tasted these light, crunchy, twist on grapes at a Mother/Daughter Tea. They are absolutely wonderful and they make very pretty garnishes!

Don't let the length of this recipe put you off! Practically everything can be done in advance. And, the individual steps are easy. But what a reward! This has been our Christmas Dinner for decades. It is the merger of two recipes: Julia Child's "The French Chef Cookbook", and a local restaurant that published their recipe in our local paper. Last year I made everything up in advance (except wrapping the beef in puff pastry) froze it, packed it in dry ice and hauled it to Colorado where two of our sons live. It was perfect!

A lovely array of figs, mango, artichoke hearts, and prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella accomplanied by a delicious citrus dip to serve at your next get-together! From 'Ultimate Recipes-Low Fat.'

    Recipe #115008

Preparation time does not include soaking time. My best friend, Vadivu, sent this to me. I'm yet to try, it arrived in the post today n I wanted to share rightaway!

    Recipe #38557

Another recipe for my fig-lovin' friends. I haven't tried this, I don't have much experience with figs. Recipe is from the Chicago Sun-Times.

If you've never cooked with fennel, try it! Its flavour really is unique. This is a deliciously flavoursome soup blending herbs and spices with fennel and leeks. Fennel has long been a central ingredient in many Asian (it’s a main component in the Chinese five spice powder), Middle Eastern and European dishes. In the Middle Ages, its popularity spread northward from the Mediterranean area, where it still features in many pasta dishes. This soup is suitable both for day-to-day meals and for dinner parties. To keep it strictly vegetarian, make it with a vegetable stock. For the best results, use a really good stock, preferably home-made. This soup is best made in a large, deep (preferably non-stick) sauté pan with a lid. Next time I make it, I’m going to substitute a cup of wine for one of the cups of stock, adding it during the 15 minutes while the soup is simmering.

    A great antipasta.

Fennel also known as Anise because of it 's taste. Like celery, it is filling and yet very low in calories, so that it provides an excellent snack food for those watching their weight. Baking brings out a nice sweetness.

    Recipe #120273

These creamy, custardlike scrambled eggs from Elisabeth Daniel sommelier Peter Birmingham have a luxurious flavor. They are perfect for those 3AM breakfasts when you need something quick and are not quite ready to go to bed. Bring your friends and that special someone into your kitchen and whip these puppies up. The rich, ripe Chardonnay fruit and yeasty aroma of the 1996 Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs sparkling wine make it a real friend to truffles. The wine's creaminess and balance also perfectly match the sumptuous eggs.

A nice extravagant way to end the year! Also to start the New Year! New Year 2011 I made stuffed eggs using wasabi caviar. My eggs peeled so nice I just had to stuff them. Using less mayo/ smart balance. And a touch of horseradish mustard to the yolk mixture.

    Recipe #49495

These are delightful as appetizers at the holidays or as a side dish for a romantic Valentine's dinner. Twice cooked baby red potatoes are topped with chives and red caviar. Red caviar is not expensive and you only need a small jar. If you prefer to use more expensive caviar, the red and green theme still shows in the red potatoes and chives. A bit of work, but they can be done ahead, ready for the oven.
