You may also add in 1/3 cup dry red wine, do not add in any extra salt to this --- cooking time is for a 4-pound roast.

    Recipe #335131

This is such a wonderful lasagna recipe! Very hearty and delicious with nice deep layers, plenty of meat and cheese, and just the right amount of seasoned sauce--- plus it's a great way to sneak some veggies into your family's meal!! Very easy to prepare, and any leftovers are great reheated the next day. Equally good with chopped spinach or zucchini.

I have made cottage rolls often but couldnt find a recipe here on Zaar so I thought I would post my old standby. It is like a corned beef flavour wise but it is a ham made from pork shoulder. It is much cheaper than pork roast, ham or corned beef usually.

You will find no canned soup in this recipe. This is an adaption of my dad's recipe that I enhanced with sour cream and cheddar cheese.

    Recipe #305262

Everyone has those nights where they just want to curl up with a movie and a bowl of ice cream or cookie dough. This cookie dough is perfect for doing so- it is low in salt, quick to whip up, and tastes absolutely delicious frozen. Homemade cookie dough is wonderful on top of all kinds of desserts, too. (When making cookie dough that is not being baked, leave out the eggs and substitute them with a little water if needed to avoid the chance of getting Salmonella.)

On St Patrick's Day or on any other day, tuck the makings of traditional beef-and-potato stew into flaky pastries you can bake straight from the freezer. These are like empanadas and can be stuffed with all vegetables, or maybe berries of some kind, or sausages and/or other meats. Everyday Food or Martha Stewart web site.;)

Now that the cold weather is coming we are going to need our comfort foods. This recipe will satisfy anyone on a cold winter night. I don't particularly like soups myself but this version turns it into almost a stew. I guess a real 'stoup', steaming mashed potatoes with gravy over them, chicken and veggies and even a pot pie decoration :). I add just a couple tablespoons of dark rum or brandy to it; it gives a touch of extra depth. I found this recipe on chaosinthekitchen.com and have had it open for days so I don't lose it, finally posting it here. She suggests using separate frozen veggies, if you go frozen, since they are normally more tender than the frozen mixed vegetables but either way, or fresh, of course. She also has a recipe for puff pastry stars if you want to add that.

This recipe originates from the Chicago Diner, a vegetarian restaurant. The directions for this are pretty vague. I'll update it once I have made it. If you make it before me, please share your experience.

You can make this cheesecake ahead of time and freeze up to a month. To freeze up to one month, wrap springform pan tightly with foil, and slide into a zip-top plastic freezer bag. I got this recipe out of my Southern Living Holiday Magazine Allowing chill time for a cheesecake is important for developing texture and flavor.

From Family Circle, "A melting pot of traditions go into Creole dishes French, Spanish, African and Native American originating in the Louisiana Bayou." Adapted slightly.

We like Hamburger Helper but we don't like the MSG or other icky ingredients! You can prepare "sauce packets" ahead of time to save time. Increase/alter seasonings and/or cheese to suit your tastes!

Flavorful moist pork roast. Best on the barbecue grill, but can be roasted in oven.

This recipe is great as is but is also good with pecans instead of walnuts. Also really good with raspberries, almond extract instead of vanilla and add orange zest - with or without nuts.

This is a delicious recipe, and one I have enjoyed many times. It would make an excellent appetizer for entertaining as well as a great dinner idea!

I came up with this shrimp scampi recipe by trying different things. Over time, it eventually evolved into this. This is a butter-and-garlic lover's delight, and my favorite way to make shrimp. Enjoy.

I searched recipezaar for BBQ sauce recipes and made this one out of three or four recipes. It is rather loose and based on what was in my cupboard at the time. Please experiment with it! It would be amazing on baked or grilled chicken too!

    Recipe #316983

This is a nice fudgie cake for dessert. The cake can stand while you are whipping up a quick main course eg a grill and salad.

    Recipe #41657

Easy to assemble, deliciously creamy and a great choice for once-a-month cooking. And there is NO canned cream soup in my enchiladas -- Hope you give them a try!
