Just was looking for a good, plain italian bread. You know the kind thats crusty on the outside, chewy on the inside. Italian style bread without all the herbs. Easy for the bread machine. Even though RecipeZaar is my favorite, I searched the internet. Found different recipes around the internet. Combined some from here some from there and kind of changed the technique. You get a nice high crusty loaf with a chewy interior and it smells wonderful. As close to the oven as it gets!
I sometimes add in some dried herbs like oregano or basil it really adds tons of extra flavor, this recipes makes a lovely soft chewy crust and I don't think you will searching any further once you try this dough, it also makes great calzones :)
I came up with this recipe when I needed a recipe for sturdy sub buns. So I combined a couple of recipes, and these came out just like Mancino's grinder buns. Slightly crisp on the outside, slightly soft on the inside and sturdy enough to hold up to the hardiest of fillings.
I do not like to buy rolls from the store. They smell funny to me. This is a nice way to make them at home, in your bread maker. No fuss, No paying for junk at the store. They will taste wonderful, fresh out of the oven, whether you use them for sandwiches or not! I only have a copy of this recipe. I am not sure of the name of the book, but it might be: The Bread Machine Cookbook I.
This is from my bread machine recipe book... I keep misplacing the book so I'm putting this recipe here so I can always find it!! You can double the recipe if your bread machine can handle 1 1/2 pound loaves.
A bread machine makes having homemade pizza as easy as using a storebought pizza! I use this for pizzas and calzones. Prep and cook time do not include time in dough cycle. My dough cycle is 1 hour and 30 minutes long.
This recipe makes a ton of dough if you like a thinner crust like me, it makes 1 large thick crust pizza, it also makes six 6-inch calzones. It is crispy and flavorful, I like to sub some whole wheat flour for real artisan taste!
This recipe makes one 1 1/2 pound loaf. My family's favorite everyday bread... Soft, fluffy, fresh, and light... Smells great, but tastes even better. After trying many bread machine recipes and adjusting them to taste, this one is white bread perfection!
From recipe book included with W-S bread machine. Very light; nice texture and make great toast. Dry buttermilk powder can be found in the grocer's baking section and has a longer shelf life than liquid; keep refrigerated.
Called a quick bread because chemical leavening is used rather than yeast. This recipe should work for any standard-sized bread machine with a cake or quick bread cycle. Cooking/passive time depends on your machine.
I love this recipe. The oats give it a really good taste, and I use wheat flour for some wheat taste. If you don't enjoy wheat flour, you can use all white flour and it is still delicious. I use my bread maker to make the dough, then form it into a loaf. You don't have to use a bread machine, I've done it by hand; the machine just makes it quicker with kids in the kitchen under my feet.
Preparation time includes the bread machine dough cycle, mine is about one hour.
