Tired of using ground beef the same old way? Try this spicy dish! Feel free to double the sauce if you like it really saucy! Update: the hoisin sauce is quite sweet, so you might start off with just a little and work your way up!
I have tried to make iced coffee before but it never tasted like my favorite from Dunkin Donuts! I finally realized they were added as much milk as they were coffee, and extra sugar. Often, later in the day, after the coffee in the carafe is not so hot, I make these as a refreshing drink. You can also add a tablespoon or so of flavored creamer, like amaretto, hazelnut, etc. for some variety.
Until we went to Greece, we always made Greek salad with lettuce. Now we know this is the way they do it in Greece, and it's so much better (not to mention simple)! The amounts used are rough guides, you can adjust them to your taste.
Really good with fries and slaw.
ETA: I really like the finished sandwich fried like a grilled cheese. When I make them that way I toast my rye on the bagel setting, assembling the sandwich "toasted side in". I also add Thousand Island Dressing on top of the onions. Then butter the bread and fry "like a grilled cheese sandwich". Nirvana!
You'll never buy the fried rice from the local Chinese restaurant when you discover how easy and (above all) great tasting this recipe is. The secret is the sesame oil. If you don't have that, don't bother making it! Can add cooked chunked baby carrots and peas, if desired. Cold rice works best so it doesn't get mushy. I usually cook my rice the day before and keep in the refrigerator until ready to prepare.
