    Rustic Pear-Ginger Tart #RSC
    Handle

Ready, Set, Cook! Reynolds Wrap contest entry. Love the combination of pears and ginger so this was a natural. Be sure to use the Non-Stick Reynolds Wrap (love this stuff), otherwise the tart will stick to the pan.

Mussakhan (Baked Chicken on Bread) Middle East, Palestine
    Handle

I absolutely LOVE this dish. It can be used a side dish to a bigger meal, or a meal all in its own. Normally it is made with freshly baked Arabic Bread, but I have tried it with pita bread, since not everyone has time to make fresh bread, and it still came out great! Depending on the size of your bread would depend on how many pieces you would need. Enjoy!

    Berber Chicken
    Handle
    5 Reviews |  By Barb R

A really spicy and delicious Middle Eastern/African chicken dish. I marinated this chicken overnight and removed it from the marinade a few hours before cooking to dry the skin so it would turn out crisp. Preparation time does not include marination or "chicken drying" time. It's great with a fruited rice.

This is a delightful way to have huevos rancheros without alot of added fat and calories. The dish is easy to prepare for 1, 2 or even 4. I have given directions for 4. The sauce can be stored refrigerated for up to a week or put in containers and frozen for later. Enjoy a taste of New Mexico!

Hausfreunde (Friends of the House) Cookies
    Handle

My family has a longstanding tradition of baking cookies together at Christmas to give as gifts. Its a big production and one that we truly enjoy as it is the one time of year where we regulary spend weekends in Mom's kitchen measuring, mixing, baking and decorating thousands (yes thousands) of cookies. We are always on the lookout for new additions to our trays and this German bar cookie looks to have some possibilities as the original recipe indicates that it stores well. The ingredient list is not a mistake - just exacting in the amounts needed to result in a perfect bar. Made a half batch to test and the result is an incredibly rich, almost candy-like, bar. I've checked out several versions and the glaze seems to be optional. That said, it does give the finished product a nice gloss.

English High Tea Preserved Ginger Drizzle Cake
    Handle

If you like ginger & especially ginger cakes, this is the one for you! This is the most moist and delectable ginger cake I have ever tasted! An old friend of my Mum's gave the recipe to her and she passed it on to me - it is a bit like Chinese Whispers, much changed and adapted since my Mum's friend scibbled it on the back of a napkin over 20 years ago, but still a firm favourite! It is the definitive style of a typical English High Tea Cake........get out your prettiest cake stand and your best Tea Set. At Easter time, I often cyrstalise some violets from the garden and decorate the cake with them, it looks wonderful & very spring like! NB: The size of the tin is VERY important in order to achieve a deep, moist cake.

    Beef Stew With Cinnamon

This recipe came from a Gourmet Magazine years ago. I have continued to make it thru the years. It always seems to satisfy my family. I sometimes serve this over rice and sometimes with a side of mashed potatoes. Nice hearty meal. I find it easy to double the recipe and freeze half for an easy dinner another time.

My husband's cousin prepared the sweet potatoes this way for a family reunion type Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. We love them for a change of pace from candied yams and sweet potato casseroles, and they are oh so much better for you.
