Music & Food!

Okay, this is kind of a silly cookbook, but once I got going it sort of just... kept going! So, it's for foods with titles that are sorta related to music (jazz, rock, alternative, soul, etc), or for recipes from musicians, or... Well, if you think of something that fits in here, let me know!

I have shamelessly ripped off restaurant menu items on a fairly consistent basis, tweaked them this way and that and made my own. This burrito recipe is one of many recipes I've blatantly stolen. I am no longer to be trusted. Even Denny's reserves the right to serve me.

Recipe #142467

The ultimate showdown. My original recipe created after a satisfying glass of cream sherry and inspiration from the music of Duke Ellington. **Warning: salad uses raw egg.

Recipe #142758

From Culinary Classics, SD Symphony Orchestra League cookbook. Chinese noodles add extra crunch.

Recipe #175142

This is for Marlin or most other seafood and it hails from a restaurant called Magnolia's in Souix Falls, SD. I found it in the Culinary Classics, SD Symphony Orchestra Cookbook. It can just be mixed together and brushed on the fish when grilling. Covers 5 lbs. of seafood and can be doubled for 10 lbs.

Recipe #175154

From Culinary Classics, SD Symphony Orchestra League Cookbook. I want to make this one day.

Thyme, basil or oregano and garlic. This is simple and versatile. From Culinary Classics, SD Symphony Orchestra League Cookbook. Good to make in advance and heat and serve when your meat entree is ready. The 2 teaspoon measure is for fresh herbs. Use 1/2 tsp. if using dried.

Another celebrity recipe. I do not know if you should chop up the tomatoes or not, but this sounds great. This would be vegan if you don't use the butter.

Recipe #12881

From the Royalgate Elementary School PTA cookbook, Roundrock, Texas.

That's right folks, the Jimmy Buffett fan in me is sharing a "Buffett-inspired" recipe to get into the "swing of things" and gear up for tailgating season. Also lots of fun for kids' snacks or barbecues. I saw this in a little shop in Estes Park, CO and tried out some things to make a "copy" when I got home.

Recipe #89105

From This recipe is supposedly the one served at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville restaurants. My hubby is a big, big fan of Key Lime Pie, and we've sampled them about everywhere (including several in Key West), but I'd never made one until he requested it for his birthday. This is easy, creamy, flavorful, and it fills the crust to the top. Would be good also topped with a bit of raspberry puree. * I use recipe #112635 for the graham cracker crust.

Recipe #113491

This was posted on the Internet for someone who asked for a recipe like one in the frozen food section called Margaritaville's Island Lime Shrimp which I think is fantastic but I can't find it. Had it in Florida or NY I think. I'm still searching...Update: I found it in the freezer at Target! I still want to make this though!

I don't have a clue where I got this recipe or why it's called "Parrot Head" punch. But I DO know it's flavors go great together. Who needs alcohol?? NOT ME!! I really like using various fruit nectars in drinks too.

Recipe #210702

States "this was made for Mariah Carey on Sept 12, 2003" in the article. Simple bean and rice recipe. Time is a big guess here. While strolling through the local scandal sheet, I found this recipe in back. No they were not the main motivation for buying that. That had something to do with the Sims2, William, Harry and Charles and the fact Cammy can fight with the best street fighter in the game. However.. This recipe interested me enough to save it. Now that it has been bouncing along my desk top and school is back in session here she be with some mods. Everything is making me think of Sim2 today..

Recipe #134928

These scrumptious muffins were attributed to country music's grand lady in the cookbook, Calling All Cooks 4. Originally contributed by Phoebe Arthur of Gadsden, AL to the fourth edition of Alabama's Telephone Pioneers of America cookbooks.
