This is a very useful spice blend for Middle Eastern Dishes. I have also found it to be good on cooked pasta, mixed with some olive oil, toasted pine nuts and olives. Also good on a bagel with cream cheese and then za'atar sprinkled on top. Try it on bruschetta with chopped tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, balsamic vinegar mixed up and then sprinkle with the za'atar - delish!

Tree preservative helps keep your cut Christmas tree fresh longer than if you only give it water, but why buy expensive tree preservative when you can make your own very cheaply with ingredients you probably already have in just a few minutes of time. I found this recipe/method on About.com

I don't remember which magazine I read this in (I was at the doctor's office) but we just tried it. The mosquitoes are swarming right now and my kids had tons of bites. They were in total desperation with the itching. I put a little on each bug bite, and they got relief almost instantly! Very easy.

We have a fireplace with glass doors. "How beautiful!" we thought when we bought the place. It didn't take long to figure out it was a curse rather than a blessing. They fog over with only one fire and within a week can be black and opaque. We tried many different techniques and even resorted to scraping it with a razor blade at times. I think I read this tip in a book full of similar tips. I didn't really believe that it would work but was pleasantly surprised! Cleanup has gone from a several hour affair to about 15 minutes. You can disregard the amounts... the recipe was rejected for lack of quantities originally so I had to add them to get it accepted.

This is a GREAT way to make an ice ring for you punch, to keep it cold and tasty! By using punch instead of water your punch won't get diluted as it melts. If you want to make ice cubes use ice cube trays or styrofoam egg cartons. The preparation time is time to make each layer, and does not include the time to freeze each layer.
