A staple in Malaysian and Thai cooking. Oelek means grinding so sambal oelek means ground chilli sambal! This can also be frozen.

The signature sandwich from one of my favourite Canadian cities - the recipe from one of my favourite Canadian chefs, Cristine Cushing! If you don't want to go through the long process of cooking & smoking the brisket, just use the Montreal Spice Mix as a rub on a roast. Serve piled high slivers of smoked meat between 2 slices of rye bread with loads of mustard & a dill pickle on the side!

    Recipe #112308

This is handy when you have forgotten to buy baking powder.

    Recipe #38711

I make this for Holiday craft sales and it sells like hot cakes!

    Recipe #141425

Okay, okay I know. True tiramisu uses mascarpone, but just in case your local Safeway or whatever doesn't carry it, which is often the case, this is a good substitute. I used it in Emeril's tiramisu recipe and it came out very nicely. Just thought this might help someone.

    Recipe #28620

This is posted for the Asian tour. We are now in Korea! Adapted from Korean Kitchen. I made this and it is so good! This is great chopped up in a teriyaki recipe, stir fry, cooked with rice, even eaten by itself!

If you only have plain breadcrumbs on hand, and your recipe calls for Italian breadcrumbs, what's a chef to do?!? Here's your solution - A recipe for turning unflavored breadcrumbs into flavorful Italian breadcrumbs. This works equally well with gluten-free or regular crumbs, pre-packaged or homemade.

    Recipe #206196

    From a long-time friend's cookbook compilation.

    Recipe #136918

I found this recipe on the net at another site. The original recipe calls for 1 tablespoon garlic powder but I like it better using fresh garlic cloves. This is a little bit mild compared to bottled Hoisin sauce but it is a great substitute in any oriental dish or marinade. All of the ingredients are available at your grocery, except maybe the yeast extract, which I found at a health food store.

    Recipe #105346

This recipe mix is as close as I could make to the original! =) Easy to make with spices from your cupboard and no salt!

    Recipe #69629

Lower in calories and just as good as sour cream. Use in dips and recipes.

    Recipe #41770

This tastes surprisingly like real sour cream. Try it on potatoes, Mexican dishes-whenever you want a creamy, piquant sensation.

    Recipe #39350

I can't get sourcream here in Greece, but I found this substitute on the internet!

    Recipe #61427

If you don’t have any cream soup on hand, (or maybe you just want to save money) try this—it’s great.
