    If you've ever eaten Vietnamese food and not had this, you have been missing out. Very good and pretty healthy. I'm sure someone from Vietnam could critique this to death. I've had lots of Vietnamese food and this tastes pretty authentic.

    I combined different spices to achieve what tastes almost as good, if not better than regular sausage. Be sure to use regular ground turkey (not ground turkey breast, which is too lean so it doesn't have enough moisture). UPDATE: After all the positive reviews, I decided to submit this to Taste of Home's Light & Tasty and they published it in the Dec/Jan 2008 issue. It's also in the Light & Tasty Annual Recipes 2008 Cookbook.

    While it's not difficult to use dried beans from their natural state, I find that I don't tend to remember that I need to soak/pre-cook the beans until it's too late to use them for dinner. The convenience of being able to reach in the pantry and open up a jar of beans that I've home-canned (without added preservatives) is worth the extra time and work. If desired, you can also make these beans salt-free; you can also add onions or jalapenos to the jar if desired, amounts will vary according to taste. Yield is only for one jar; your actual yield will depend on how many jars you can. Time is approximate and does not include soaking time for beans. This recipe comes from the Ball Blue Book.

    What a find! For dietary reasons, using purchased bouillon cubes are not an option for me. This is from Angela Papaiz who contributed to the Brazilian Children's Fund Cookbook. Prep time depends on how fast you chop. LOL I will over estimate on my timing.

    If you bake and cook everyday then this is a must to have in your cupboard, it's so much cheaper than using cooking spray and works even better than Pam cooking spray, no chemical fumes and will not leave burnt on black residue on the edges of your pans like cooking spray will and will keep forever in your cupboard --- for baking recipes using chocolate you may use 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder in place of white flour or 1/4 cup each cocoa powder and flour --- this may be increased or decreased sucessfully just make certain that *all* three ingredients are the same amounts or the mixture will not work as well ;-)

    An old family recipe from my husband's aunt Clara. If you blanch the garlic first it won't turn blue or green from the vinegar, as can sometimes happen.     Never buy store bought stock. If you cook with fresh ingredients like we do, you never have to buy anything on this recipe list as they are scraps from everyday produce. The ingredients listed are suggestions of what types of vegetables to keep, not that you need every item every time you make stock. Surely there are more vegetables to add to this list. I save EVERYTHING. Keep a freezer safe zip bag in your freezer and pile in the scraps. When you are ready to make stock, simply put the frozen scraps in a pot of water and boil for several hours. This is also a starter base for chicken or beef stock. Simply throw in leftover bones.

    This shower cleaner came from an Everyday Cheapskate e-mail, and it is truly magic, as the title states. I just tried it and it got the soap scum off my glass shower door with hardly any scrubbing. It was amazing, as I have tried to clean that door with various products. It is so easy, too. Try it and you will be sold. Be careful because a little bit goes a long way. You need a 24-oz. squirt bottle for this.

    This recipe only uses baking soda, vinegar and castille soap. Not all will have castille soap in the cupboard but some already rely upon it for other things. I have been using this regularly so I feel comfortable posting it. I only use 1/8 to 1/4 cup and have no issues with the laundry at all.     I originally started with Recipe #63785 but I tweaked it a bunch to lower the calories. I'd been using turbinado sugar the whole time and didn't realize that it made such a difference. When we ran out I tried organic sugar and brown sugar but hubby kept saying it wasn't right. Turbinado is raw cane sugar. You may also find it under the name "raw sugar". Here is a definition that I found at http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-turbinado-sugar.htm Turbinado sugar is a delicious alternative to table sugar. Unlike typical granulated sugar, Turbinado sugar crystals are much larger, and are made at an earlier period in the sugar cane processing method. It retains some of the flavor of molasses, a natural byproduct of the sugar process, which makes it a desirable addition to tea or coffee. The first pressing of the sugar cane yields Turbinado sugar. It looks notably different from granulated sugar because it has much larger crystals and is golden to brown in color. It also is considered by some to be “healthier” since it receives less processing than does white sugar.

    This is the best barbecue sauce, and trust me I have experimented with hundreds of different combinations over the years, this is even better than any of the popular bottled sauces! ---plan ahead this sauce must be made one day in advance to allow the flavors to blend and intensify, don't even think about using it the same day it is made, this sauce will take on a whole different flavor when simmered for 1 hour and left overnight in the fridge--- the ingredients can easily be doubled but keep the garlic amount no more than 2 tablespoons, and for the best flavor use only Heinz ketchup and a good quality brand of yellow mustard, I use French's mustard it really will make a difference in the taste, please do not omit the liquid smoke --- yield is only estimated as the sauce will reduce after simmering for 1 hour or more ---*NOTE* for a smoother low fat sauce omit the oil, onion and fresh garlic, then in the saucepan mix all remaining ingredients together and add in 1 teaspoon each garlic powder and onion powder then simmer for 1 hour -----you will love this sauce!

    This recipe is in response to a discussion on the boards about Bisquick. Bisquick is apparently not available in the country where the originator of the thread lives. I prefer to use this in recipes that call for 'Bisquick' rather than purchase it, myself. If stored in the freezer, this will keep for several months. I hope you find this as handy as I do, since I could never keep 'Bisquick' on hand before. If I recall correctly, I think this came from one of my Make a Mix Cookery cookbooks.
