I LOVE avocados, especially the black Haas avocados. They're creamy and have such a "buttery" taste, and yet are cholesterol-free. This recipe makes a really delicious sandwich. When I make it for the kids, I eliminate the cumin, but add it when I'm making a sandwich for myself -- I like cumin's very mild spicy flavor that has a hint of caraway in it.
A step up from the usual grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, these are made with ham, cheddar cheese, red onion, horseradish sauce and mayonnaise. You can serve these flavorful sandwiches by themselves for lunch, or a simple dinner. For a heartier meal, serve them with steaming bowls of soup, stew or chili.
A very simple recipe with gourmet taste! From Food and Wine Magazine. The flavors of the smoked salmon, Gruyere cheese and Dijon mustard complement eachother very nicely. I enjoy the hint of lemon, too. This makes a simple lunch special.
This dish appeals to all ages. The slices hold their shape and taste great at room temperature -- making them perfect for make-ahead dinners, lunch boxes or potlucks. When sliced in small squares, they make great finger food, too. Created for RSC#11, and definitely a dish I'll make often in the future.
Saw this on Sandra's Money Saving Meals, Episode: Seasonally Simple and thought I would share. I love veggie paninis and using a griddle or HOT skillet to lay on top of the paninis is genius! I have tweaked this just slightly, using olive oil in place of canola.
I got this recipe out of either Gourmet or Bon Apetite years ago. The bacon and leek combination with the nutmeg is great. It is easily doubled, reheats in the microwave easily, and freezes well. We often have this for breakfast during the week.
A very easy quiche, that you can "muck around" with. Great way to use up any withering veggies or cold meat, or even cheese, in the fridge or freezer.
Great for lunch, brunch, dinner, a snack after school, even breakfast!!!
My daughter got this recipe while teaching in Wallumbilla, everyone there wanted to feed her, she had a great time!!!
A great item to have at any brunch setting. These also work well for breakfast when you have overnight guests. Then reheat well to so you can make a batch on the weekend for the hectic mornings during the work week.
Came from food network. A wonderful brunch dish. Make the night before. Enjoyed by all. I add extra cayenne cause that's how I roll. ;) Read the directions before making. you can sub sun dried tomatoes if you want instead of roasting them.
