While making another cucumber recipe, I started playing around and ended up with this. I served it with Chicken satay and sticky rice and it was a hit :)

    Recipe #159112

This quick and easy recipe is a great summer dish and has fantastic fresh flavors. Goes well alongside about anything off the grill. It is best made with high quality olive oil. I normally do not measure the amounts for this dish. You should adjust the salt and oil given the size of your tomatoes, and to your own taste.

This calls for Creme fraiche, a thickened cream with mild tangy nitty flavor, found near gourmet cheeses, you can subsitute sour cream for it. Cooking time includes chilling time.

    Recipe #458975

Posted for a recipe request. Please note that there are two lots of toasted sesame seeds. One in the dressing and the other to top the salad.

    Recipe #203570

This is from BH&G's Low Calorie magazine, Spring 1986 issue. The intro says, "Tabbouleh, Middle Eastern in origin, is made with bulgur, a wheat product." I confess that I love this salad!

On a hot day here is a refreshing delight. You know the days when it's just too hot and you just don't want to cook? This is quick to toss together, no cooking. Full of flavor.

This is a dish I became addicted to in Thailand, of all places... I'd never seen it here in Australia, so I learned to make it myself. It's extremely refreshing in hot weather. One way of serving the noodles is to place them over a dish of ice to keep them cool, but that's not necessary if you prefer not to. If you can't find dashi, which is a type of stock prepared with bonito flakes and seaweed, I have found that shop bought instant miso soup can do at a pinch. You might need to fiddle with the proportions of ingredients for the sauce to suit your taste. Some people like to add a little bit of sugar to the sauce as well.

I love pasta salads but am trying to steer away from ones that are dressed in mayo and this one from Super Food Ideas looks like a good one. Cooking time will depend on your pasta.

Great salad for a summer lunch or dinner under the stars.

This version of the famous Indian Chaat (pronounce with the emphasis on the "aa", as in "aarmy") doesn't really do justice to it, but it sure is yummy anyway! (Chaat is a type of salad famous in the roadside food stalls in North India, particularly in Delhi, the capital of India) Mom concocted this recipe to stop me from eating junk in the evenings, and boy, it worked! This tastes very different if you use chaat masala (a spice blend), than if you don't, so if you like Indian food, do yourself a favour and buy some chaat masala! :) Note: Cook time does not include time for boiling the potatoes... use leftovers!

    Recipe #63793

An unusual salad featuring watermelon, co-starring honeydew and cantaloupe. For ZWT, classified as Southwest for the lime dressing's TexMex flair.

This is ideal picnic food since it has no mayo in it. You can use more or less hot pepper depending on how hot you like it/can take it.

    Recipe #16719

I love fresh veggies in salad more than anything else on the table! This is one of my favourite recipes I found at Walmart! Hope you enjoy it too!!

    Recipe #88464

This summer salad was served at a wedding reception I attended recently. The caterer is a local (but famous in the area) Italian chef. I fell in love with the weird combination!

    Recipe #98772

A sort of Indian flavoured potato salad. You can serve it immediately, or allow it to cool to room temp, but don't chill it, it looses flavour I think.

    Recipe #68807

This is a simple, refreshing raita for summer. It can be served with an Indian meal or alongside a grilled chicken/fish/meat and a selection of vegetables. Avocado for the raita should be on the firm side and not soggy.

    Recipe #216927

We ate this at our local Indian restaurant recently. I decided to make it myself and we reckoned it was better as our ingedients were fresher! It was very rustic, so I wouldn't stress about how anything was cut..

    Recipe #396541

Oranges and onions are a popular combination in many Middle Eastern countries.

    Recipe #428530

This is a great tasting and great looking slaw, which is a modification of a good but ordinary red slaw recipe. I decided to make it as bright and flashy as the multicolor impatiens in my garden, so I chose ingredients that have flashy colors.
