This soup is the best! My mom owns a catering business and her chef makes this for the cafe. Flavorful and hearty, even has a bit of a kick to it. Serve with warm crusty bread...a great meal on a fall/winter day.

This recipe was shared with me by my one of my dearest friends. My husband & I have duplicated the recipe many times since our first tasting and it's received many great reviews! This recipe can be altered for a vegetarian's meal.

    Recipe #86360

Great side dish for your Mexican fiesta. Try with Recipe #17130! It is as good as you'll find in any Mexican restaurant. Update: 1 teaspoon cumin was added to original recipe. I took some of my reviewers suggestion and added 1 teaspoon of cumin to the recipe. They were right. Cumin definitely adds to the taste.

    Recipe #17126

Taken from my "In Good Taste" cookbook (El Dorado Service League). I have not tried this dish; however, it sounds really delicious. I love the idea of the browned onions, cashews and raisins served atop the rice and green peas.

    Mama Nazimas Jewish Iraqi cuisine.

    Recipe #465392

This dish calls for packaged saffron yellow rice along with artichokes, shrimp and peas. The picture in my Trim and Terrific cookbook looks beautiful.

Give everyday rice a color and flavor boost with intensely yellow, earthy turmeric (sometimes called "poor man's saffon").

From the "Spice of Life" cookbook. Instead of the boiling water and separate bouillon cubes, you may want to use chicken broth. Great with lamb.

This rice dish takes very little time to prepare and most of the ingredients are found in the common kitchen. I found this recipe on Allrecipes.com and altered it to add that little "heat" I thought it needed. Serve this with a plain lentil dal (stew) or curry, or with a plain raita or cold yogurt.

Sometimes I use 2 1/2 tsps of roasted dry garlic flakes instead of the fresh. Easy side dish goes great with chicken

A Dean Ornish recipe. Colorful, vegan, very complete nutritionally, and zero cholesterol. For more color and variety, you can add cubed cooked butternut squash or carrots. May be used as a main dish or side dish; serving amount depends upon how it is used.

    Recipe #94378

A wonderful Indian rice dish with cashews. Hard to eat plain rice after this!

    Recipe #333497

We like it because unusual, aphrodisiac, easy to make, may be a main course. Putting together different ingredients from the refrigerator.
