This is one of my favorites on the South Beach diet. I usually eat this for breakfast or for a snack; it really satisfies my "sweet tooth". For those on South Beach, count the pecans as part of your daily nut allowance.
This recipe is similar to other Truffle recipes, but differs in that it uses only SPLENDA to sweeten & low-fat ingredients. I've tried to match their appearance as close as possible to the true French Truffles that melt in your mouth. The amount of SPLENDA used is, of course to suit one's taste. The amount used here is not too sweet, yet enough to take the bitter bite out of the chocolate.
Delicious and so easy to prepare.
There have been questions about the accuracy of the carb count configured by Food.com. According to the Splenda help site there are 12 gm of carbs in 1/2 cup and 24 gm in 1 cup. My recipe calls for 3/4 cup which I figure to be 18gm for the entire pie. I submitted this information to Food.com and received this answer.
"dojemi, At this time, the nutritional facts are limited to what is available from the USDA's database, which has only the data for Splenda packets and not Splenda Sugar Blend for Baking."
If you choose to make this pie please take this information into consideration.
I was searching the 'net for low carb. cheesecakes 'cuz my dad is on The Atkins diet. I came across this one and made it right away. My dad was so happy and he really enjoyed it, he even shared it the next day with my grandma and friends who are also on the Atkins diet.
I am a terrible baker, but this dessert is one of the few dishes that I did NOT blow! It turned out so wonderful that we ended up eating the dessert first that night. This is a wonderful dessert for those gluten intolerent. And if I can make this cake, anybody can :P. *The recipe is right out of The Vancouver Province.
This recipe was given to me by a friend. I don't know where she got it. It's wonderful. I like the fact that you don't have to make a crustless cheesecake for it to be low carb. I put the splenda down as 3/4 to 1 cup because I tend to use a little less splenda because I don't like an overly sweet cheesecake. It's good either way. Bon Appetite!!
I had a guest on a low carb diet and she gave me this recipe. It's really lemony and delicious. There was a slight aspartime aftertaste, but for those trying to cut back on the carbs it's a great dessert! Prep time includes chilling.
