    Junk Food Gourmet

Here's a collection of dishes, sweet and savory both, made from "junk food." Candy bars, breakfast cereal, chips, frozen pizza, tater tots, what-have-you. There's a lot of duplication here on Zaar of these recipes, so I've tried to choose one of each version. If you find a unique one that should go into the cookbook, please let me know!

    A twist on Mashed Potatoes

    Recipe #58610

These are wonderful! My cousin brought them as an appetizer for Thanksgiving dinner one year, and I got the recipe. I make them for work parties, and even quick snacks at home. You can always make more or less by using more or less cream cheese and crescent rolls! Trust me, these are excellent!

I've never tried this recipe, but thought I'd pass it along for those who've heard about it. I myself would saute the celery and add a chopped onion to the mixture. I imagine you could also bake this in a covered dish for 30 minutes or so instead of stuffing the bird.

OMG.. there isn't even a category for this.. it has to be right up there as the Queen of White Trash Cooking..if you aren't familiar with White Castles..they're similar to Castle Burgers. I found an old W.C. cookbook the other day and this was a winner. You make it up the night before and chill it, so it's ready to bake in the morning.

    Recipe #3411

This idea was given to me by a fellow Zaarian, Parker's Mom. She wasn't sure of quantities, so I fiddled around with the quantities until I got a combination that seemed good to me. Posted with her permission. :) This stuff really is as delicious as she said! This is such a colorful snack and would be pretty for Easter or a baby shower. Recipe an easily be doubled or tripled. Listed servings are 2-3 pieces each, but will vary depending on size of clusters. Cook time listed is for cooling.

I adopted this recipe from Recipezaar in February 2005. I made several changes based on the review posted by Jenna Marie. I'm really happy with the changes I've made to the recipe. These cookies are great with or without icing and would be perfect for a child's party.

What is Bamba? Bamba to an Israeli kid is like Cheetos to an American one. It is a snack made of peanuts, that melts in the mouth. Even though it is technically junk food, it is highly recommended by pediatricians all over the country because it is coated with vitamins (???!!!), at least that's what pediatricians tell mothers. It is safe, because it melts in the mouth. For many ki

This is a great recipe, easy to make, and popular with kids! You can use different flavors of barbecue sauce and different kinds of refrigerator biscuits as well (although I recommend the Pillsbury Grands sized ones as easiest to use).
