    In-Be-Tweens (Sandwiches)

I'm always looking for new sandwich ideas. This is my main meal a day (lunch) 5 days a week since I work nights. I have not published any sandwich recipes myself so these are all ones that I have tried or have chosen that I want to try. Thanks so much to everyone for such wonderful ideas!

Another delicious recipe from Closet Cooking blog. Here's how he describes it: "A buttery and toasty grilled cheese sandwich stuffed with cool and creamy guacamole, crispy bacon and melted jack and cheddar cheese. The crunchy crumbled tortilla chips in this grilled cheese pay tribute to the classic combination of tortilla chips and guacamole dip." Nobody could say it better!

From a Martha Stewart email message. The recipe was vague, and I have tried to firm up the amounts. However, they are really up to your own tastes and preferences.

BLFGT: Bacon, Lettuce, Fried Green Tomato Yes, there really is a Whistle Stop Cafe from the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes". It is pretty much like the movie portrays it, a Southern cafe with really authentic fare, and some of the best fried green tomatoes ever. I came across this when looking for fried green tomato recipes without much cornmeal. It sparked my interest, so I thought I'd share it with my Zaar friends. Looks like a lot of work, but well worth the time.

You know, growing up, I had all sorts of funny combos of food I liked. This one seems to be the one I am still eating when I want a snack and nothing else in the house sounds good. I love it with Chicken Noodle Soup.

From the River Belle Terrace Restaurant in Disneyland.

This juicy chicken and tangy cream sauce are wonderful for lunch or supper. On the go? These are great warm or cold and make great lunch, picnic or beach fare! They are very portable when wrapped in foil. Perfect with fresh island fruit and a cold tropical drink! RSC#8 3rd place

We will whip these up sometimes just for a bit of a change in the traditional. Sometimes I will make the BLT mix up before leaving for the ballpark so that when we get home all we have to do is throw them together and EAT!! Prep time includes frying bacon.

This is a very simple recipe and so good! When we have leftover corned beef on hand, the next night we know immediately what our next lunch or supper will be! My mom used to make these for us all the time and this recipe is our favorite for making Rubens. The flavor of the usual Thousand Island Dressing is too sweet for our tastes, so we use a little mayo and mustard in its place. The results are wonderful and I hope you will agree. However, if you prefer, use the thousand island dressing, your choice! Serve with some chips of choice and a dill pickle. If you don't have homemade corned beef on hand, you can buy it presliced in your grocer's deli.

If you searching for ways to use up leftover ham, here's a recipe you might want to try.

I watched Ina Garten make a similar dish and had to try it myself. It's way beyond basic grilled cheese. Yum!

From executive chef David Raymer of Tavern on Main in Westport, Conn. I got this from Yankee Magazine. Note says: The recipe substitutes white wine and butter for the more traditional base of mayonnaise. To save preparation time, have a fish market preboil your lobsters and remove the meat from the shells.

The hearty ham and toasted bread make this a deliciously different kind of egg salad sandwich.

This tangy tuna salad gets fun flavor from sweet pickle relish and lots of crunch from apples, celery and walnuts.

These are so delicious when warm and bubbly from the broiler. We often have these for a weekend lunch. Sometimes we use them for a quick dinner with a bowl of soup and green salad.

For a change, why not try this for breakfast.

I love the combination of tomato and cheese. The short marination of the tomatoes in the olive oil and the balsamic vinegar gives it a nice kick. Other vinegar is not as nice. If I have it in the fridge I add an extra topping of mozzarella and you can please the meat eaters by adding slices of crunchy bacon. You can make it a closed sandwich by just toasting 4 more slices of bread to top the sandwich.

I think I found this recipe a few years ago in a Taste of Home Magazine. It has become a favorite for my children on kids movie night and we serve it with a big mug of hot cocoa.
