Christmas is a time for fun, food, and family. I've tried to compile a collection of modern, fun, and not so traditional options. All recipes are holiday inspired in a variety that includes mealtime dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, late night snacks, and cocktails.
I realize that a two-ingredient recipe is almost too simple to post, but this was so darn good and such a hit at a party, that I just had to post. Please do not omit the last important step - it makes this recipe a winner!
This is the cat's Meow! I know you are saying there are already a lot of recipes on this site for the same thing, I researched them before posting mine and this one is just a little different so here it is. Everyone I have ever served this to absolutely goes beserk over the taste and says it's as good as the real thing. It's so much cheaper too! I found this on an internet site, but can't remember which one, it was to long and to many fifths ago!! You can easily double the recipe.
These are THE BEST cinnamon rolls! The recipe is from Todd Wilbur's "More Top Secret Recipes." and www.TopSecretRecipes.com. They're oooey, goooey and rich! The dough can easily be prepared in your bread machine, just follow your manufacturer's order of ingredients. I put the ingredients in the night before, and then roll out and bake in the morning. I would like to share the following suggestions by reviewers about the filling "leaking out" during baking:
1) add a few tablespoons flour to the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture
2) using a flour "shaker" or sifter, I lightly dust the margarine with flour before sprinkling with the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture, then again on top of the BS/cinnamon mixture, before rolling up the dough.
I got this recipe from Healthy Appetite with Ellie Krieger and adapted it to use ingredients that I normally have on hand. I used frozen strawberries(thawed and sliced), as it wasn't strawberry season and mini semi-sweet chocolate chips and it was wonderful!!! Could make it even lighter by using low or no-fat cream cheese, light bread and egg substitute.
This is a recipe I got from my mom. I grew up with these waffles and my brother and I loved them. No sugar in this recipe, but who needs it with the added butter and syrup or powdered sugar. I am saving this for my personal cookbook.
Very attractive looking appy! and good too. Had some ladies over for a "crafty evening", making little Christmas thingies, the spirals went over big, and the ladies took the recipe, from "Women's world".
This is easy and always a big hit at my get togethers, it's great with mini meatballs or Lil Smokies, to make it ever more easier purchase ready made frozen cooked small meatballs or you can make your own and cook them first, I use recipe#69173 see bottom of recipe for baking times --- this is great to take to a potluck :)
This recipe has never failed me yet and you may also make this using melted butter in place of the roast pan drippings, no need to use any muffin tins for this, the complete batter is baked in one pan then sliced into eight pieces, plan ahead the batter needs to sit for 1 hour before using, you may refrigerate the batter overnight but you *must* allow it to come down to room temperature before using, make certain all your ingredients are room temperature... you will *LOVE* this!
This is such an great and easy recipe! We make it every Thanksgiving - we usually end up doubling it and putting it in a 13x9 pan, because every one loves it so much! It also goes great with ham. It's only slightly sweet, and REALLY corny - plus it reheats great for leftovers.
Oven roasting enhances the natural aroma of asparagus in the simple, but elegant side dish. Pair Roasted Asparagus with the finest steak or humble poultry to make any meal seem special without fat and extra calories.
Excellent companion for any main dish. Roasted Green Beans and Baby Red Potatoes are light, quick, and loaded with flavor. Try them as a side for Thanksgiving or other holiday meal or in summer when they are in season.
You'll be sorry you didn't grow up in Chicago, and eat one of those wonderful beef sandwiches from Carm's. This tastes identical. This wonderful recipe came from my sister Linda knowing how homesick I am for Chicago food. Start cooking 18 hours before you want to eat.
