    A delicious low fat potato dish which I found in the November 2005 issue of the 'Australian Good Taste' magazine, as an accompaniment to Recipe #145704. I have posted both recipes for the post-ZWT Healthy for the Holidays Challenge.

    Tasty rissoles for lovers of Mediterranean ingredients - capsicum, garlic, olives, basil - which I have adapted from a recipe in the November 2005 issue of the 'Australian Good Taste' magazine. It was accompanied by a delicious low-fat recipe for potatoes: Recipe #145705. In adapting this recipe, I have suggested making 12 rissoles rather than the 8 in the original recipe. This immediately makes serving sizes more versatile. If you are watching your calories and fat intake, have just ONE rissole and more of the salsa. Posted for the post ZWT, Healthy for the Holidays Challenge! The fat content is probably still a bit on the high side, but remember the calorie and fat content is for the rissoles and the salsa! If you are not interested in making the salsa, make 8 rissoles (instead of 12) to serve 4.

    Australian chef flip shelton suggests spicing up a pot of tea "by adding 1-2 teaspoons of this blend with the tea leaves". The tea can be drunk black or white. From her fabulous book 'green: modern vegetarian recipes'. I have also posted her Spiced Coffee recipe. Both have been posted for the post-ZWT Healthy for the Holidays Challenge. Drunk without milk, this tea is 14 calories and has 0.5g fat. This Spiced Tea and the Spiced Coffee are both great low fat choices!

    A deliciously spiced coffee which enhances the coffee drinking experience, and is therefore particularly welcome when you're aiming to reduce the calories in your daily diet. Because it has no milk, it has NO fat and, at 17 calories, it is super-low in calories. Compare that with a creamy cappuccino! Adapted from Australian chef flip shelton's 'green: modern vegetarian recipes', and posted for the post-ZWT Healthy for the Holidays Challenge! When I make this next time, I'm going to try it without the fennel seeds and with a tablespoon of orange juice.

    got a similar recipe in my email, it reads : "Quick-cooking barley replaces rice in this classic Caribbean combo. Barley is rich in soluble fiber and makes a good whole-grain choice because it is digested slowly, leaving you feeling satisfied longer." as a barley lover i had to try it, and add my own ingredients.i used fresh grown peppers ,tomatoes,and a handful of fresh oregano and basil. enjoy!
