    How to Clean Hood Filters
    Handle

This method is nothing short of a miracle to clean kitchen hood filters. Non-toxic and cheap, cheap, cheap! The only problem you should have is finding the right vessel. I used a roasting pan, but maybe using a disposable aluminum pan would work. Add the soda at the beginning to the cool water so it doesn't fizz and overflow. As embarrassing as it may be for me to show how bad mine were, note the differences. The foremost filter in the picture is one that's been cleaned by this method.

    Breakfast Mock Cinnabon (Low Carb)
    Handle

This is one of my favorites on the South Beach diet. I usually eat this for breakfast or for a snack; it really satisfies my "sweet tooth". For those on South Beach, count the pecans as part of your daily nut allowance.

They Won't Know Raspberry Coffee Cake
    Handle

They won't know that this raspberry coffee cake is low calorie and low fat. The only thing they will know is that you are an excellent baker and this cake is delicious. I usually do not bother with the glaze. The recipe loses nothing if you opt for a glaze free coffee cake. Enjoy! P.S. This is 3 points per slice.

Gyros - an Authentic Recipe for Making Them at Home
    Handle

Yes, you can make authentic gyros at home --> the texture and flavor of this meat is as good as you get in a good Greek restaurant, without the traditional rotating spit.. but this is just the recipe and technique for making the meat, for I'm assuming you know the drill on making the classic gyro sandwich - stuff the meat in a grilled pita with sliced tomatoes, onions and tzaziki sauce.. Enjoy!

    " Splenda " D Cheesecake Sugar-Free Low-Carb
    Handle

This is my own recipe for a yummy, creamy, thick, cheesecake; that is easy to make and sure to dazzle anyone. I prefer to serve it topped with blackberries, but you can use any fruit of your choice… I bet Kiwi with lime would be good too, Mmmm mabe I'll go make another. To be completely honest, I opt not to dig out my spring form pan and cheat by buying ready made crust from the store. Although, I have included ingredients and instructions for a crust for those who are looking for a completely home made cake. However, if you are as lazy as I am and go with the ready made crust … Tip: Keep that aluminum edge (that keeps the clear plastic lid on) folded up, making an extra lip. It will help hold more cheesecake, and keep it from overflowing. This is a nice, thick cheesecake! This cheesecake is made in three parts 1. Crust, 2. Filling (note: filling is made in two stages whipped cream and filling), and 3. Topping (note: this topping is not the fruit topping, but the top layer of the cheesecake).

    Southern Buttermilk Biscuits
    Handle
    462 Reviews |  By P4

These buttermilk biscuits are authentic. This recipe came from my great-great-grandmother, and was handed down to all the women in my family, and we are all Southern. I am the first one to commit the sin of using a food processor (lol) but I find it works very well. I would put these biscuits up against anyone's - they are perfect in every single way. I hope you all enjoy them.

Now don't go "EEEWWW!!" before you try this!
    Handle

The only way to eat fresh tomatoes! In anticipation of the impending tomato harvest, I share with you a family secret. This is the reason we look forward to the end of summer, to the time when our gardens and our friends gardens are bursting with little red-skinned treasures. When I tell anyone about this, besides my brother and sister -- we learned it from Mom -- and my children -- now that I've gotten them to try it -- they think I'm weird (well...yes, I am, but this isn't why). People looked at me oddly when I made this in the college cafeteria. At least I thought that was the reason. It never tasted right, though. I think the foodservice tomatoes were plastic. My husband seems to shudder if he sees me or the kids consuming this treat, but then, he hates warm peanut butter. Period. Won't touch it. I haven't managed to get any of my in-laws to give it a try; my husband's Dad just looks at me and shakes his head. Come to think of it, I get a lot of that from him. So, what is this food that most people seem to find so repulsive that they won't even consider it? I just call it exactly what it is: Peanut Butter and Tomatoes on Toast. If you're intrigued, the extremely difficult and intricate recipe follows below. If you think I'm weird, get in line. Grossed out? Get over it, and try it already. I thought it was pretty gross the first time I saw my Mom eating it, too, but she made me take a bite, and I was hooked.

Old Fashioned English Lavender Tea Scones
    Handle

When I was back home in England recently, I visited a local lavender farm called Wold's Way Lavender in North Yorkshire; we had tea and these delicious lavender scones in their delightful little tea room; this is my attempt to recreate those scones - using some of my home-grown culinary lavender from the garden here in France! I have made them several times now and they have turned out just as I remembered them, especially good if split whilst still warm, buttered and spread with lavender honey or lavender-infused cream! Just a note of interest......lavender was often used during Tudor and Elizabethan times in the preparation of a wide variety of dishes and was a particular favourite of Queen Elizabeth I. The palace gardeners were required to have lavender flowers available at all times which were used to make Conserve of Lavender (a mixture of lavender flowers and sugar) and sweet lavender tisane, a drink made with lavender flowers, boiling water and honey.

The Best Chili You Will Ever Taste

This is the best chili recipe I have ever tried. I'm not sure where the recipe originated, but it is amazing! Sometimes, I don't bother adding all four cans of the kidney beans and it still turns out wonderful. Once anyone tastes this chili, they will be begging for the recipe!! Enjoy!

    Caponata or Caponatina
    Handle

This Sicilian vegetable dish is far more than any of its components. To call it an eggplant dish is to simplify its complexity. It is a Sicilian dish that has conquered the entire Italian peninsula. On family trips to Italy, we found it being served practically everywhere; however it is typically a Sicilian treat, steeped in Sicilian history and culture. It utilizes a sweet and sour flavor that was said to be introduced to the island by its Arab rulers in the 900’s AD. Agrodolce or sweet and sour sauces are not typically found as part of Italian cuisine, but the agrodolce flavor of caponata is now well known. My mother was known for her caponatina as it was called in our home. Mom’s caponatina was so good that she was often asked to prepare it for others. I can only guess as to how caponatina became known as caponata. I believe it was known as caponatina throughout most of Sicily, and lost the diminutive INA meaning “small bits” when the dish was later popularized throughout the peninsula. Although my mother lovingly prepared this dish in her kitchen often right in front of my eyes, I did not have the insight to preserve the recipe. I regret this; however, I do know the list of ingredients and their cooking method, but lack the amounts. This recipe was compiled by me from memory and tested using other recipes for the missing quantities. I believe I have found Mom’s secret and would like to share it. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does.
