    Halloween Recipes

A collection of both tried and untried recipes that I hope to be making this fall or for Halloween! It's a tradition at my house to make 2-Alarm Chili and Aunt Bernice's Cornbread on Halloween night. We eat chili for dinner and pass out candy to all the trick-or-treaters! I love seeing all the cute kidos in their costumes. Cute! Cute! Cute!!!

Next time you carve pumpkins or cook fresh pumpkins don't throw out the pumpkin seeds. They make great snacks that are rich in fiber and kids love them. Purists will want only salt as a seasoning, but if you're feeling adventurous, experiment and have fun with seasoning blends. (From Fabulous Foods)

Great little snack you can easily throw together for your next Halloween party!

One of the best things about Halloween when I was a kid was the pumpkin seeds baking while we were finishing up the details on the carving. Serving size depends on the pumpkin

Posted this recipe by request. Dogs love these dog treats! I can't remember how many treats this recipe makes, so I just guessed.

Check these out before you say GROSS!! They're not what you think....Honest. I had these a while back at my stamp club, courtesy of another stamper. They are so popular around here right now that you can't find the pretzel rings or Hugs just anywhere. Hope you'll try them too! They're so simple, I'm kinda ashamed to call it a recipe......... ZWT MidAtlantic for the chocolate

These are so cute! Thought they might be a fun for everyone this Halloween!

According to the Canadian Living Test Kitchen, this is their most requested Hallowe'en recipe. I haven't made them, but think I will this year. Sounds ghoulishly good!

    Recipe #44422

My kids are "freaky" over this.

Be a nut and putter your bumpkins. Have your own pumpkin patch right in your kitchen. After reading Melanie's helpful review, I thought it best to emphasize that you should add sugar to the dough until it is very stiff and leave it at that.

    Recipe #39945

This recipe came from the Top Secret Recipes site a couple of years ago. It is a really simple kid pleasing recipe

My family likes the chili made from the packet of 2-Alarm Chili, so one day I decided to measure out all the ingredients. It's much cheaper to measure out your own ingredients!

    Recipe #39280

This makes a chewy popcorn ball, as opposed to the crunchy ones you usually find.

    Recipe #16742

My kids love to help make these. Fun family activity.

This is a great cake, perfect for Halloween parties, that is a take-off of the stand-by graveyard pudding. I noticed pudding is less popular than cake, and of course, cake is more suited for parties, especially those with kids. You can use your choice of cake flavor, but pay attention to the cookie crumbs you use in that case so they are compatible flavors. You also probably wouldn't want to use chocolate icing with a pumpkin cake, but if you wanted a pumpkin frosting, that would be good, or else use vanilla. You can use whipped cream to make the ghosties, but be aware that if you do this, the cake needs to remain chilled, and the whipped cream does try to sag and run after awhile (so don't do that too far in advance). The marshmallow ghosties are more durable at room temp. Those are often sold near displays of halloween candy, not necessarily by the bags of marshmallows.

I found this in a supermarket leaflet. I haven't tried them myself but thought they looked fun for all those Halloween parties!

This recipe is much easier & quicker to make than the traditional version. The marshmallows not only give the popcorn balls a different flavour but make them chewy, too. I call them "goblin" popcorn balls because I did them up for the Trick or Treaters this year - wrapped them in green plastic wrap & tied with gold ribbon.

I received this recipe from my cousin Leslie when putting together our family cookbook. The recipe belonged to her grandmother, Bernice Peters Chastain (my grandpa's sister). She said that she originally used white cornmeal, but her family always thought it looked "anemic" so they used yellow cornmeal. I believe this is the perfect southern cornbread recipe! It's actually the only cornbread that my step-son will eat!

What could be more warming on a cool autumn or winter night than hot apple cider, easily made and infused with exotic spices?

    Recipe #37819

Making these is a fun family activity. We look forward to making and eating these every Fall. Muncha Muncha Muncha!!!

I thought that this would be great with a Harry Potter doll to enter in our county fair. Print the "Wizard" version on one side of the recipe card and the "Muggle" version on the other!
