Greek Cookery

A collection of all my greek recipes, or recipes that are especially popular in Greece (hence the 'au gratins' and the middle-eastern mix). My aim is not only to include the recipes Greece is known for, but to also reflect modern life here in Greece.

Use this to accompany roasted beets, or fried salt cod, or any of the greek fritter recipes. It is a condiment and is used like a mayonnaise and/or dip.

Recipe #59951

A popular middle-eastern dip/spread.

Recipe #59954

This is too good to be believed - you'll just have to make it! Do try to find the white tarama - it is so much better than the pink. In Greece, this is eaten as a meze, with pita crisps or crusty bread. It makes a fantastic dip too.

Recipe #59957

Greeks love 'Rossiki Salata', a yummy potato/vegetable salad bound with more mayonnaise than you'd think possible (add mayonnaise as per your liking - in Greece they use A LOT of it). Try making your own mayonnaise for this.

Recipe #59980

This is a delicious bean salad that tastes wonderful when summer's tomatoes come in. Substantial enough for a main course. Serve with a platter of assorted salamis or smoked fish and some crusty bread.

Recipe #59983

Spicy, meat-filled pita breads. OAMC instructions available.

Recipe #60196

A very tasty pilaf to make on a day that you don't have much time to spend in the kitchen.

Recipe #60199

We serve this as a main dish - Greek meals are often meatless.

Recipe #60347

Chickpeas are so good done in this simple pilaf. This is 'wetter' than a regular pilaf as this type of cooking in Greece closely resembles a risotto.

Recipe #60348

Great winter fare - but I'm prejudiced.

Recipe #60351

If you thought you didn't like anything with dried figs in it - you haven't tried these!!! Like Fig-Newtons, only better.

Recipe #60603

A very simple recipe for cauliflower that everyone always loves (even those who say they 'hate' cauliflower change their minds after trying this).

Recipe #59868

My favourite potato salad. I sometimes jokingly call it the 'Vampire's Death' potato salad cause how could a vampire survive all that garlic?

Recipe #59867

Good to serve along with a glass of wine.

Recipe #59869

Another version of the traditional Greek Cheese Pie (Tiropita).

Recipe #59886

Greek salads are usually only dressed with olive oil and maybe lemon juice or red-wine vinegar. But this dressing is made of 'Greek' ingredients so, it's my Greek Dressing.

Recipe #59898

A traditional greek roast for a Sunday dinner.

Recipe #59940

A traditional octopus meze to have with ouzo or wine.

Recipe #59942
