Often in life, the simplest things are best. It is certainly true with some dishes. This quick and easy to make chicken is one of those dishes, very satisfying.
My husband loves his comfort food, so I serve this tasty dish with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans.
This is a delicious casserole that can be made using either tuna or 1-1/2 cups or more of cooked cubed chicken or even cooked turkey
--- for a thinner sauce use 1 cup of milk or half and half instead of 3/4 cup, prep time includes boiling the egg noodles, if you are not a garlic-lover then you may omit the garlic powder and to zing the flavor up even more add in 1-1/2 tablespoons of lemon juice
You could hear the lunch bell ring from all the way over at the barn. Dong! Dong! Dong! "It's time for lunch!" Jerry shouted. He jumped down off the tractor and headed for the old pickup truck. "Whata we having?" yelled Bubba. Dennis smiled, "We having that lip smacking good chicken with that sauce!" Everyone piled into the back of the truck and made their way to the table, it was piled high with tasty chicken, sauce in a gravy ladle and some nice red tomatoes. Hurry up and pass that down here...Granddad boldly nodded. Feel free to add the sauce to potatoes or vegetables as suggested by Jen T who must be a genius! Thanks, Jen!
But most of all *enjoy* and gather around the table and rest a spell.
I like using balsamic vinegar in my cooking, and this recipe is no exception: You can substitute chicken breasts, but I'd advise against it -- The thighs are higher in fat, but taste much better. Note: Very good over cooked rice.
This will also work great with turkey; if you do not have chicken breasts, then use any leftover cooked chicken. If desired you can fill the crescents just with the filling mixture and omit the soup, just brush with butter before baking. They are wonderful just stuffed with the filling! A few members have experienced a soggy bottom, so you might want to consider just drizzling half (or even a little less) of the soup mixture on top and a little around the sides of the crescents, then save the rest of the soup mixture for another time (this will help prevent a soggy bottom). You may use the jumbo crescent rolls and stuff with more chicken mixture :)
The Colonel used to sell chicken nuggets that were tasty but he thought 'Why not prepare fresh chicken strips of all white meat?' and that is how the Colonel's Crispy Strips were born. You will notice it is the same as the Extra Crispy.
