    Fruits & Veggies

I like veggies, but I love green beans! Even though the blood type diet says I should avoid green beans, they remain one of my favorites. These are recipes I just "gotta" to try.

    Fried Onions Ready-To-Use!
    Handle
    1 Reviews |  By Zurie

Use one free morning to make lots of fried onion, and freeze it in convenient amounts! During the holiday season you'll be so glad you did! So many recipes begin with: "Fry a chopped onion ..." How about taking out a bag of frozen, ready-to-use sauteed onions? It can be defrosted in the microwave, or simply added, frozen, to the dish in the pot, so skipping that "fry an onion" bit and saving quite a lot of time ... Because this is not a recipe as such, use as many or as few lbs or kgs of onions as you like, but the more you manage to chop and saute the better, as they do tend to melt away a lot in the frying process. Use a large soup pot. You'll be so glad you prepared this! Because I don't know how many pounds of onions you're going to process, I also have no idea how long it will take you, or how large or small the yield will be, but I have to put in numbers for the Zaar robot ...

I find it totally amazing, that children and men ALL LOVE THIS RECIPE! As for the Female of our species we just love this for the flavor and the health benefits it brings our families. Roasted brings out a wonderful sweetness in this dish. The Garlic is roasted to a tan color is creamy good. You can just pop them in your mouth. Or you can spread them on your florets or fresh bread. Just be sure to scoop up some of the rosemary, olive oil and black pepper that may have escaped to the bottom of the dish. For Halloween check out Recipe #396674 version of my recipe.

Stewed Green Beans - South African Farm Recipe
    Handle
    10 Reviews |  By Zurie

You'd call this mashed beans, and it is, sort of! It's a common way we have of cooking older green beans, when they're past their prime and not good enough to steam plainly any more. This side dish comes under the heading of "old-style comfort food"! Delicious with roast meats and stews. As with such old, trad recipes, quantities are not set in stone.

Grandma's Dill Pickles (Taste of Home Recipe)

These crispy spears have a slightly salty, tart flavor with a good balance of dill, garlic and peppers. They are already great and have only sat for 2 weeks in the brine! My family is requesting I make as many as possible!

    Recipe #245020

    Select
    Eddie's Corn
    Handle

I first had this made for me by a fellow named Eddie while on vacation in Florida. I've never had anything like it! The shoepeg corn is not too sweet and doesn't get mushy at all, and the serrano chiles give it a little heat. Great warm or room temperature, so great for picnics and potlucks. Gets recipe requests every time!
