A delicious punch recipe that our family has enjoyed for many years. I think it originally came in a little recipe book attached to the neck of a bottle of Canada Dry Ginger Ale or Wink. We normally do not add the alcohol.
Wink is a grapefruit-based soda with other citrus flavours. C-Plus is the recommended orange soda.
Optional: Add your favourite liquor to taste (rum, gin, whiskey, or vodka). Rum was recommended.
This is an absolute favourite of mine and the rest of my family. My aunt had made them the first time I tried them and I was hooked. Whenever our family gets together for potluck suppers (lots of excellent cooks!), we all hope that someone has made them. The recipe does make a lot.
My mother just gave me a whole box of recipes and I found this recipe in it. It sounded so good, I baked it for a bake sale. A woman bought a couple of pieces, liked it so much that she came back and bought the rest of the cake. Definitely a keeper... very easy, tasty, and versatile. I made it in a 9x13 pan. You can use milk or water instead of orange juice but I really liked the flavour of the orange juice and the raisins in it.
From the book "The Best of Pantry, from the editors of Harrowsmith Country Life." Posted as per request. Substitute poppy seeds for the sunflower seeds and grated apple for the carrots in these delicious muffins that can be tailor made for different tastes.
This recipe was published by Bick's several years ago in one of their little recipe books and it is one of my favourites to take to potlucks and picnics. I vary the flavour by substituting different dry salad dressing mixes and relishes (Bick's recommended Yum-Yum), choosing different vegetables. It is always a hit. I have made it with Zesty Onion Relish, zucchini relish, dill pickle relish. Use any combination of vegetables to equal 2 1/2 cups.
