I had never eaten leeks until I met my husband, so this is his recipe. It's nice and quick and easy.

If you want something different to do with the season's harvest of winter squash, try this delicious roasted side dish.

    Recipe #147381

The dish is a nice and easy change from the norm, and quite different from some of the other broccoli recipes I have seen here. Try it, you might like it as much as we do! Due to a great suggestion from a reviewer, I have added toasting the sesame seeds, a marvelous idea! Also, PLEASE don't substitute the sesame oil as one review did here, you loose the entire flavor of this great dish! This is an adopted recipe and the above comments were made before I inherited it. Now having made this dish, I can concurr: it's a sesame oil that turns your head and gets your taste buds going in this recipe, and toasting the seeds also adds fuller flavour. I'm delighted to have adopted this recipe and will be making it often:) I hope that you will enjoy it too!

A quick dress up for broccoli from Chatelaine Food Express Quickies

    Recipe #337308

This is an excellent side dish to almost any meal. It is healthy, and you can tailor it to fit any vegetables that are in season (grape tomatoes are good, but they do tend to explode, though). I find that this recipe is great for large groups, because, aside from the prep (a bunch of cutting and chopping), it is easy to make a lot of food with minimal effort. Be creative, and enjoy!

This is wonderful, healthy, warming dish for these cold months. I've also added Sweet potatoes, parsnips, carrots and pearl onions. You can mix and match any root veggie you like.

We love kielbasa so thinking I could get my family to try something new came up with this for lunch. Now it is a quick favorite for anytime. You can adjust the amounts to suit your taste or what you have on hand.

Here's an interesting carrot recipe -- If you can, try making it a day ahead of time & give the flavor time to develop! They do reheat well!

    Recipe #304615

The original of this tempting recipe came from Jean Carper's 'EatSmart' column in the 9-11 Feb 2007 issue of the USA Weekend paper.

Try this dish to break the monotony of your mealtime. It's so scrumptious and so different!

    Recipe #251319

Great for anyone going low carb OR who has so many zucchini, they don't know what to do!! :) We found the sauce to be very mild. I think it would be better with twice as much garlic. I boiled my zucchini slices for about 3 minutes so they were partially cooked. I wanted to make sure they were soft in the finished dish or I knew the kids wouldn't eat them. ;) The cottage cheese provides a slightly tangy note. I think we would have preferred ricotta, but that is personal taste. I use my 11x7 baking dish and got 6 pieces the size of what you see in my photos. Both of the guys ate two so it fed 4 of us, and I double the meat. Adjust the recipe accordingly for your family.

Would you believe this is great? And you can eat it with bread, especially your own fresh bread? This is also a great side dish with any meal. You could substitute the cheese with another flavourful type, and you could also use toasted almonds instead of hazelnuts, or leave out the nuts entirely. As a dip: use all ingredients. As a side dish: serve warm and use ingredients to taste, but lemon juice is a must! Taste it in the processor -- your taste has the final say!

This dish is so Yummy, especially if you love orzo like we do! COOKS NOTE: I like to use more garlic, and spinach, but I will leave that up to you. I also add roasted red peppers and even Pancetta! Please note: this is an adopted recipe and I hope to make it soonest. If you make it before I do, I would appreciate feedback, Thanks ! This is a great basic recipe for zucchini patties. We love them just like this but you can adjust to your taste by adding garlic, chili powder or even grated carrots. We love dipping them in sour cream too. ENJOY!

Another longtime family recipe that I got from a friend back in the 80's. Makes a great side dish with poultry.

Found this in Food & Wine Magazine, 10/07 edition. It is fast, healthy, vegetarian, and delicious! I enjoyed preparing it, as well as eating it! The broccoli is slowly caramelized to bring out its sweetness, then enlivened with a squeeze of lemon, a pinch of crushed red pepper and some toasted cashews :) .Update: 11/07/2008 it has been suggested by a few who have reviewed the recipe that they would increase the amount of garlic, so maybe it would make for a nice change!! ;)

    Recipe #268866

This is a rich filling dish. I love this with a good roast and gravy.
