A rich creamy coffee full of flavor! Good iced coffee is my favorite to relax with whether it is winter or summer. A secret for making your iced coffee easier is to freeze ice cube trays filled with leftover brewed coffee. Having these ice cubes handy helps retain the coffee flavor rather than the watered down effect of regular ice cubes. Try it!
This is how my Granny made sweet tea and it is some kind of sweet. Know that and beware. Pa-Paw used to down 2-3 glasses after working in the garden all day. Back off the sugar if you can't handle it. This one is for true southerners only ;)
From Top Secret Recipes www.TopSecretRecipes.com. Irish whiskey mixed with cream and sugar with a taste of coffee, chocolate, vanilla and almond. What more could you ask for. Original posted by Mom at Allrecipes
This is a lemonade-based fast prescribed for detoxification and weight loss. I found it when I was looking to detox my body. It was presented to me by a highly regarded holistic nurse, Sandra Duggan, who is one of the co-founders of the Cayce-Reilly School of Massotherapy at the ARE. According to the book she gave me, this is a healthy way to fast because between the lemons and the maple syrup you get all the micronutrients you need to sustain the body. Grade B syrup has higher contents of those macronutrients so use it if you can find it. Also, organic lemons are best. You can leave out the cayenne if you are spice-averse; its role is to help break up toxic deposits within the body. The citrus can do that as well; the cayenne just helps it go faster. It would be well to get a colonic during the time of your fast in order to aid along the detox/weight loss process. I used the fast for 2 days and lost 10 lbs that week (though weight loss was not my goal). Use this fast with spiritual goals in mind and you can achieve great results.
This is a great eggnog recipe for when you have a group of people with different ideas about how eggnog should be served, as they can always add equal parts brandy and rum to the beverage without ruining its great flavor. I have noticed that many people who say they do not care for eggnog, have only tried store bought eggnog…. This recipe by George Mahaffey , former chef of Aspen’s Little Nell Hotel, is always a holiday hit and perfect to serve after Christmas dinner. Use fresh grated nutmeg for best flavor. MAKE AHEAD: The eggnog can be refrigerated overnight. Stir before serving.
I often make my special recipe Bailey’s for Christmas gift giving, but this sounds even better. It’s from Christopher Elbow Artisanal Chocolates in Kansas City. He mixed it for an employee Christmas party and reports it’s creamy, boozy and delicious, straight up, over ice or over ice cream. Yum!
This recipe came from Josephina, a dear friend, when we lived in Naples Italy. If you can't find grain alcohol, you could get away with using vodka. You'll want to use it within a few weeks or shake it up every now and again since it tries to settle.
Drizzle some on top of fresh fruit in season for a very easy, sophisticated dessert.
This is a friend's recipe for Kahlua - it will make several bottles. The alcohol content works out to about 16% (32 proof). A note - this does need to steep for about a month, so if you're planning on making it, start early.
