    Dressings & Condiments

I think I mentioned that my boyfriend complains the fridge has all condiments inside. Is he trying to say there's nothing to put them on, or that there's simply way too many? I suppose I could just ask him, but adding more until he spills the beans sounds more logical.

I developed this dressing years ago, and I can honestly say that you won't be able to keep your spoon out of the fridge for a taste, it is *that* good! --- although I do think the dressing is better with the anchovy it can certainly be made without them. In a pinch I have even substituted buttermilk for the half and half cream, just use about the same amount --- this dressing gets stronger with refrigeration time so a small amount of fresh garlic goes a long way! ---- usually one recipe without doubling is perfect for one large romaine lettuce, if you are serving a large crowd of people you might want to double -- salad dressing will not work for this use *only* mayonnaise, I find Hellman's brand mayonnaise works the best and for the perfect companion to this salad see my recipe#125034-------------LOWER-FAT OPTION use reduced fat mayonnaise and fat-free half and half or low-fat milk --- also see my recipe#66596

This is the salad dressing I grew up with that my mom created. As a child, I didn't realize there were any alternatives. To this day, my mom's salad dressing is still a favorite. Very simple to prepare. If you make it a little ahead of time, it will allow the flavors to blend. I hope you enjoy it!

This is a recipe request. I use this sauce over steamed veggies and brown rice, and it is delish! This can also be used for a stir-fry or great with some chicken and plain ol' egg noodles.

I LOVE a good Blue Cheese Salad Dressing. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a good one in the stores. I dug out all my cookbooks, combined this and that and here is the final result.

    Recipe #55514

This is the best dressing ever. My mom got the recipe somewhere, and then adjusted it a bit, so she gets credit for it. Quick and delicious. The better quality the vinegars the better the dressing. I like to use a latte frother to mix the dressing. If you use the garlic make sure it is very fresh or it gets a little bitter in the dressing, it is optional. Enjoy!!

    Recipe #176016

Wonderful on salads or used as a dip for chicken or fries.

From www.TopSecretRecipes.com. This is my all time favorite ranch dressing and I found it at Outback. Each packet of the dressing mix hold approximately 3 tablespoons worth of mix so you can triple the recipe, or make it 3 separate times. This recipe goes great with Cheese Fries! (Prep time is chill time, but isn't necessary)

    A low-fat dressing.

From www.TopSecretRecipes.com Why buy expensive dressings? This is SO good!

    Recipe #54739

It's easy to make your own salad dressing and far cheaper than buying it.

I love ranch dressing, but it's not available in Israel. They've never even heard about it! I found this somewhere on the Internet about 10 years ago. My veggie daughter loves this on tomatoes. I like it on potato latkes, of all things.

Did you ever just start cooking without really having a clue where you were going to end up? My kids have gotten used to it by now. "Mom, what's for dinner?" "I don't know, it's not DONE yet. Let's wait and see what it turns out to be, okay?" Sometimes I let them name it. I really had absolutely NO idea how this would taste, but sometimes I come up with pretty decent stuff that way. Over the Memorial Day weekend, I thought I'd just whip up some coleslaw to go with my Bobbie-Q Beef (recipe for that may follow...eventually) But instead of reaching for a coleslaw recipe in a cookbook, I whipped out my handy-dandy Palm Pilot (how did I EVER get along without it?) and looked up the recipe for "Amish Macaroni Salad." I took that as my leaping-off point. First, I changed it from Miracle Whip to mayonnaise, then reduced the sugar. Also I added the celery salt, because, well, if it's good enough for a Chicago Style Hot Dog, it's good enough for me. Turned out that it tasted almost-but-not-quite exactly like Marzetti's Brand Slaw Dressing which comes in a glass jar from Your Grocer's Refrigerator Case. Which I just happen to like, so it was a good thing. Hope you give this a try.

This dressing is easy to make. We serve it on everything from lettuce to baked potatoes. From one of my favorite cookbooks Texas Home Cooking.

With some of this prepared and waiting in your fridge, and a package of the shredded cabbage coleslaw mix you can buy, you can have a salad on the table in minutes! Recipe easily doubles, or you can also easily just make half. I originally got this recipe from a friend, but I cut back the sugar and changed the type of vinegar used.

This is such a versatile dip! It goes wonderfully as a dip for most any kind of appetizer: vegetables, chips, breadsticks. One of my favorite ways to use this is as a dip for Recipe #46078. It's also great to keep on hand to use as a quick and delicious sandwich spread… You won’t believe how good it is on a ham and cheese sandwich or your favorite sub!

An absolutely delicious salad dressing that is the house dressing at a five star restaurant that shall be left unnamed, I got this from a friend that works there. Very tangy and sweet. Like a creamy raspberry vinaigarette.

A wonderful Italian salad dressing made creamy with the addition of sour cream.

    Recipe #76935

This combination of sour cream and lime is to die for (if you like limes lol). I use it instead of plain sour cream in lots of recipes, and have changed it to tangerine, lemon or other citrus fruits as well. 3 recipes on zaar use it, but it deserves its own spot as a condiment in its own right

    Recipe #239431

You'd be hard pressed to find this yummy dressing outside of the Green Mountain State.
