From the pages of Taste of Home, submitted by Cindy Beberman, these are a wonderfully crisp little cookie with a rich filling sure to please if you're a coffee/hazelnut/chocolate lover! I easily halved the batch and got 30 cookies! To save time, I made the filling before the cookies because it does take awhile to set up and saves time in the long run! *I've made these again since first posting and used Land O Lakes fat free half and half in place of the whipping cream to cut some of the fat/calories/cholesterol a bit and it works just as well without compromising the taste!
These are nice little cookies and so simple to make. I only dipped half of each cookie because I liked the presentation better but play around to see what you like. Prep time does not include freeze time.
This recipe has been made by my family for yeas. I got it from a friend so posted it here for safe keeping. It is easier to make then it sounds, since it is 4 layers you can make each layer as you have time.
I usually put the dessert in the freezer to help chill and set the separte layers. So prep time gones way down (about 2 hours). I tastes much better if you can make it the day before.
I have divine childhood memories of Entenmann's pound cake, which my mother rarely buy since she would usually bake her own. I found this recipe on a copycat site, and never ever thought of using powdered sugar before.
This dessert/salad brings back such fond feelings. This is the recipe my grandmother served the kids 2-3 times a year when we were all together. After she died no one could find her recipe for this. I guess that is what the internet is for! When I surprised the family with this recipe at Christmas dinner, both my aunt AND uncle cried. I hope your family enjoys this dessert as much as mine has.
Back in the 80's my girlfriend had just had her first baby and invited me over and made these cookies, this is the first time I had ever tasted snickerdoodles. The next day, remembering how good they were, I called her for the recipe. Have been making them ever since. I like to double this recipe, because at my house these only last a few hours.
I am now actually "watching" my diet, and in the process am trying to make my favorites in a "low fat" manner. I took my favorite muffin recipes and combined them, made some adjustments and came up with this great recipe. Hope you enjoy them!
