An excellent choice as a side dish for fried catfish or pulled pork. Also goes well with cornbread to soak up the juices which are called "pot likker". When you eat this kind of food, you know you are living!

    Recipe #86387

This soup is really yummy and healthy too! This makes a main dish accompanied by tortillas, or crusty french bread and a nice salad!Caribbean, Cuban, Mexican and Spanish influences! It really is best if the beans are soaked overnight. And depending on your cooker, the soup might need to be cooked longer.

Very tasty soup. Many compliments on this soup. You may use top of stove for this soup, but it might be a little thick so adjust liquid. Energy Wise Cooking.

I love crockpot cooking & have posted 2 other recipes today I thought were special. This is the last & looks so good to me, but I'll probably never be able to make it here in Iceland for lack of the pina colada drink mix I've never seen. This would surely be for a special occasion & the directions look a little labor intensive to me, but I hope someone not intimidated, but equally intrigued will try this just so I'll know whether it's truly as good as it appears it should be. Prep time was a pure guess & did not include cooking time. NOTE: Despite several tries, I wasn't able to correct or delete the word powdered from the drink mix ingredient. This is a frozen liquid.

Only three ingredients and this makes the best tasting meat. Even though the recipe title says "pot roast", I think hoagie sandwiches are the way to go. The recipe wasn't clear on amounts or how much(or servings for that matter) so I did a little guessing....

Gumbo you can make on a work day. I prepare all ingredients the night before. Put everything except water and shrimp together and refrigerate. In the morning, put ingredients in the crock pot and add water. Be patient with the roux, it takes time. If you burn it, you will ruin your gumbo.

Lots of vegetables gives this sauce a meat sauce look but isn't. I had friends come over while it was cooking and taste it a thought it was a meat sauce. I great way to get a variety of vegetables into your family without the I don't like that veggie! This freezes well so you can divide into freezer bags for future use (if it lasts). Use on pasta, in stew, bean dishes, top a pizza, or in soups. This can make this on your stove top as well.

I like to make a batch of this overnight to use in whatever I'm cooking the next day. The smell of the onions slowly caramelizing overnight lends to very sweet dreams!
