    *Crockpot and Rice Cooker*

These are recipes I plan to try in my crockpot and rice cooker when I move into my own apartment. Some are interesting crockpot takes on traditional dishes. Others are classics. Either way, they are going to be the perfect way to have a home-cooked meal even when I have to go to school or work all day. There are even some desserts!

This recipe is great for grilling, baking, or OAMC! I found this recipe on cdkitchen.com. I was impressed by the great flavor. Cooking time provided is for grilling.

    Recipe #112931

This is a recipe that was derived from Miss Annie's Crock Pot Cream Cheese Chicken that I attempted to make but found that I didn't have exactly the right ingredients...Since my kids love ranch dressing, this version really "hit home" with them...(They were literally "licking their plates" after they were done!) I thank you so much, Miss Annie, for your inspiration for this "alternative ranch-flavored" recipe! :)

    Recipe #147494

A simple crock pot recipe for tender chicken. Serve over hot rice or noodles. UPDATE: Do to the many comments about too little liquid, I have added an optional chicken broth.

    Recipe #141490

The kids and I made this delicious dessert over the holidays. It turns out to be cakey on top with a layer of warm saucy chocolate on the bottom. Yum, it reaches all level of chocolate satisfaction. We did not wait for the recommended cooling time.

    Recipe #50331

For rice cookers with a porridge cycle. This is a delicious, creamy pudding, with the luscious taste of coconut. Tapioca pearls cook to perfection in the rice cooker. Try topping with sliced or chopped tropical fruit - mango, pineapple, banana, papaya. Recipe can be halved for 3-cup cooker. From the Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook. Guessing on cooktime.

    Recipe #178736

This is from a 1975 Rival cookbook. Serve this with some good dark bread and maybe some potatoes.

    Recipe #251778

    Recipe #251780

The Unwatched Pot. The recipe doesn't specify what kind of beer, but I'd use a good dark one.

    Recipe #251782

This is so easy and delicious, and perfect every time. My family loves it, and it's a great dessert to take to a holiday dinner.

This is comfort food at its best for me, and it is relatively healthy! This tastes like an apple pie with the crumb topping mixed in! This is a slight adaptation of a recipe in "Fix It and Forget it Lightly" and was credited to Sue Hamilton in Minooka, IL. This is very rich and we liked it topped with fat free cool-whip. The original recipe calls for regular white flour, I just prefer to use whole wheat pastry flour.

Just in time for the holidays. A family favorite.

    Recipe #43842

This makes a wonderful cake, and it couldn't be easier!

A "souper" delicious way to use up leftover turkey! Don't hesitate to mix in leftover gravy or veggies. Left over stuffing? Layer it on top of the turkey. No leftover turkey? Cook boneless turkey breasts in chicken broth and use the liquid instead of milk.

    Recipe #47602

Just throw this all together, go to work, come home and dinner is served. We serve this soup with "recipe #210181"

    Recipe #191273

Another of my aunt's recipes. Great for those cold nights.

I have just divulged my own county's, my grandmother's, and my mother's most coveted soup recipe. (Lord, help me!) My most wonderful food memories stem from this soup. When I was a little girl, family and friends would gather at my parents house, bringing proportionately larger amounts of the listed ingredients (alas, usually fresh ingredients). Everyone would gather outside around the old iron washpot over a wood fire and prepare this stew with the ingredients they had brought. My mom and dad cooked the stew for hours as everyone visited. The results? Simply perfection. Nothing has ever tasted better to me on a cold Winter day.

    Recipe #45556

From Linda Larsen,Your Guide to Busy Cooks at About.com. This rich and delicious rice pudding that cooks in your slow cooker is true comfort food.

    Recipe #182336

I love Gumbo and I love my crock pot. I decided to see if I could make a good version utilizing the crock pot so I could do other things while it was cooking. This version passed the spouse test! Feel free to experiment with your seasonings - especially the crushed red pepper. Add some cayenne if you like it hotter. Just remember...you can always add more, but it's hard to make it less spicy if you over-do it. If you don't do shellfish, just omit it and add more chicken and sausage. To save a little time, get your water boiling for the chicken breast and cook it while you are stirring the roux.

    Recipe #211716

This is a recipe I've adapted and modified from one I found in a little book called "The Best Slow Cooker Cookbook Ever." It's easy to prepare and good for a fall or winter supper.

This is a easy to prepare, flavorful and very tender pepper steak. Serve over rice or egg noodles. If you like your green pepper crisp, add to crock pot the last couple hours of cooking time. This is an adapted recipe from Allrecipes.
