    Cooking from the Pantry

All recipes call for ingredients from the pantry/freezer, or long term fridge keepers (soy sauce, worchester, etc.). All recipes are allowed one perishable ingredient, not includeing what I feel are staples. Eggs, butter, milk (I always have powdered),onions, garlic. If you love to cook prechopping and freezing onion is the only way to go. Garlic keeps quite well a room temp. and of course the minced bottled or frozen garlic works very well.

I got this recipe from the Kraft Foods magazine and was impressed by how quick and easy it was and also tasted great!

    Recipe #187223

Found this recipe on the Kraft Site. It's a quick microwave dish and easy to make with common ingredients.

    Recipe #188058

Hang up that phone. This tasty, take-out style dish is so quick and easy, you'll forget about delivery.

    Recipe #186330

These fillets are so easy to make and so tasty, crunchy on the outside. This is our favorite way to fix Tilapia. I got the recipe from the bag the fish came in. This recipe is NOT spicy & wasn't meant to be spicy. Taliapa is a sweet white, mild tasting fish. If you want spicy add spices to this recipe.

I love pecan-crusted fish. This is a light recipe, but you can serve it with a kicked-up tartar sauce as well.

    Recipe #181131

Another great pantry dish from cooking light. The only fresh ingredeint called for is cilantro, and luckily I grow that in the windowsill year round. I think it's just fine without too.

The epitome of pantry cooking. Add some angel hair or linguine and you have a devine "no shopping" dinner party good meal.

Frozen hash browns are great to have on hand and pair well with the feta cheese and spinach. For a new twist next time, try a combonation of broccoli and sharp cheddar or swiss cheese. The recipe comes from cooking light.

    Recipe #14468

These little meatloaf muffins are great freshly made or out of the freezer. There is no chopping so they go together fast. I can't keep them in the freezer very long, my family doesn't thaw them first, they just pop them in the microwave till their hot. They are a fast meal or snack.

    Recipe #32834

A delicious meal and easy to make.

This wonderful rice dish has the texture of risotto without the constant stirring. Taken from the Oct 2002 issue of "Bon Apetit."

    Recipe #43146

I like to think of this vegetarian dish as Egyptian-style chilli. I was first introduced to it during a trip to Egypt four years ago, where it was nearly all we ate for a week! It's served in "fast food" type restaurants, sold from carts by street vendors and made in the home. There can be many variations, but this is close to the one I grew to love. By the way, this is a great recipe when you need to feed a crowd on the cheap.
