Every Christmas my friends and family look forward to this in the cookie tins I make for all of them. They get very upset when I do not make this. It is so easy to make. However, you will want to give them away as soon as possible because they are very addicting.
This is a fun, easy recipe and it's very addictive. It's fun to change the colors of the M&M's with the holidays! I got this recipe from a friend of mine and I believe that she got it out of Taste of Home magazine possibly?? The quantity that you'll get will depend on the number of pretzels that are in the particular bag that you're buying. Be sure to allow for broken pretzels in the bag as that's just inevitable. I have only been able to find the "square" pretzels at Walmart.
These do not look like Mounds or Almond Joys, but the taste is very similar. I make these every Christmas along with my cookies and they are very easy and quick to make. They are very pretty on a tray when placed in decorated mini muffin liners.
This candy is a must for gifts, parties, or special occasions, especially if your time is limited.
NOTE: The butterscotch chips will NOT melt. When they are soft, they look shiney. Do not overcook, as the chocolate will burn.
You may use more peanuts if desired. I usually throw in more to make sure the last pieces have some nuts in them.
