Many years ago this recipe was given to me as a recipe that was one of (or like)Fannie Farmer's chocolate cookies. My recent research shows that Fannie Farmer lived and published a cookbook in the late 1800's. I have never seen one of her cookbooks though her recipes remain popular.
I was sooo excited the first time one of my daughters, after she left home, called me for a recipe!! And this is it! However, it wasn't mine but a friends that she wanted me to call and get! What a let down. Anyway I gave it to her and now to you. Enjoy!!
I was given this recipe a few years ago at a Weight Watchers meeting. It is a favorite of my family and at potlucks. My kids don't care it is low in fat & calories - they just like the taste. This was before the point system - so I don't know the values of it.
I love chocolate - so it's much better for me when a serving of cake only has 119 calories as this one does. I suspect, though I haven't tried it, that reduced calorie strawberry or cherry spread would be good (in place of apricot), and give a pretty red color for occasions like Valentine's Day.
This is another recipe that I have had for many years. Just finished making it again to take to a pot-luck. It is quick to put together because of the mixes. Hope you enjoy! 1/24th of this cake with the glaze would equal 7 Weight Watcher's Power Points - for those of you who track your points.
