I adopted this recipe from the Recipezaar account, and I'm so glad that I did. This has become a regular addition to my OAMC and I have created a public cookbook filled with recipe ideas using this recipe. This is a three-ingredient wonder that's easy (5 minutes of your time), delicious and versatile.
Thanks Paula Deen (FoodTV) for the best fried chicken I have ever made! It has a nice, savory flavor and a coating that has just the right amount of crispiness. It was a good thing I had an extra cut-up chicken in the refrigerator because my family was begging for it again the next day. Although it calls for what seems like a lot of hot pepper sauce, it isn't any spicier than Jack-In-the Box's Spicy Crispy Chicken--you can take it!! FYI I made this using 10 pounds of wings--enough of the hot sauce/egg mixture to cover, but you will need to double flour mixture if you want to do this much. I'm not saying it tastes like KFC--only that you won't be doing business with them anymore.
Cooking for yourself or a crowd can be pretty difficult if you have to alter recipe sizes (unless you have Zaar to do it for you!) This recipe is soo simple to multiply, you can do it for one or one hundred!
One of the constant recipes in our house.
A very elegant presentation with very little effort. Charlie was a dear friend, and a great cook. I was 13 yrs old the first time I made this, and now @ 30+none-of-your-business, this dish is made at least once a month in my house. Everytime this dish is requested, cooked & tasted, the memories of Charlie fill my house and my heart, bringing him close again.
Please note - I no longer use a cut-up fryer as I did in the original recipe.
My family is a breast group, with the occasional thigh & legs if Grandkids are coming over...
Can't be in the tropics but you'll feel like you are when you're enjoying this salsa made with tropical fresh sweet mangoes, papaya, crisp red peppers and ginger mixed with aromatic spices and herbs topping the grilled jerk chicken that is well seasoned with the same mixture of herbs and spices.
Moist and tender chicken with a nice soft buttery coated breading on the outside. I serve this with a side of chicken flavored rice or noodles and vegetable. My husband first flinched when I told him about the Rice Krispies coating, but loved it when he tried it; you would never know it was cereal coated!
I was searching the internet 2 valentines days ago for a romantic, not too foo-fooey recipe and found this (don't remember what site). This is now my BH's version of comfort food, whenever he feels down he asks me to make "that fancy chicken". I like to serve it with garlic mashed potatoes.
The sweet tangy sauce this chicken cooks in results in delicious, sweet, slightly sticky chicken that is just delicious. It may be the ugliest chicken you've ever seen (especially if you skin the chicken first, as I usually do), but it sure does taste good.I usually grab a "family pack" of select chicken parts or I use drumsticks and yank off all the skin with the help of kitchen shears. A serving is two pieces each. I originally found this in one of my favorite community cookbooks, "Enough to Feed an Army" years ago. This is my adaptation and I gave it the name "Ugly Naked" based on my method of skinning the chicken.
Needed a quick & easy weeknight meal. This is adapted from an old Taste of Home magazine. The chicken is tasty & juicy, with a nice crunchy crust. You won't miss the skin!
ETA -- some say this is too bland. The ranch dressing is not enough seasoning. I do add season salt to taste (Nature's Seasonings) to the bread crumb mixture for more flavor. Hopefully as a cook, you will know what to add to suit you and your family's taste.
This chicken is crispy and the best I've eaten! It is important to follow the instructions on when to cover or uncover chicken during frying. That's what makes it crispy. To me, this is the ultimate comfort food with the delicious cream gravy. Prep and cook times are approximate.
