From Heinz Successful Pickling Guide, this is a good recipe! If you want it a little hot, add in some hot peppers. This is a canning recipe but you could half the recipe and use it in the fridge. Makes great gifts too.If you half the recipe, you will have about 1 quart.
I recently bought some Mezzetta Zesty Bell Pepper Relish and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. In my attempt to find a recipe so I could make my own, I stumbled across this tasty one. Not the same, but still so very good with a hint of heat. This won a secret food bloggers secret ingredient contest for a recipe using red bell peppers. I hope you enjoy! Adapted from a food blog, savory and sweet. Thank you Alice!
Feeling a little lazy and not wanting to can, I was looking for a good recipe for chilled dill pickles, but couldn't quite find the exact recipe I wanted so I have adapted a recipe from Group Recipes and Epicurious to fit my needs. It's slightly sweet with the lovely taste of dill. I hope this fits your needs too! :) Cooking time is marinating time. Thank you for the inspiration coconutlime and Amelia Saltsman!
Ramps are a type of onion, similar to scallions or leeks and appear during April and May. Ramps are picked wild in the eastern United States, from southern Canada to the southern Appalachia mountains. If you're lucky you might find ramps at your local farmer's market. Serve these with grilled chicken or on French bread with some good cheeses. Adapted from Martha Stewart Living magazine.
This was adapted from Aliza Green from Field Guide to Herbs & Spices. A little different from the recipes already here. Traditionally, this seasoning is used for steamed crabs, but is now used for fish, potato salad, potatoes, and other vegetables. This would also make a great gift, along with some recipes! Enjoy!
Adapted from a Meal Master recipe, this will make a great gift in a basket with the spices, a nice salad bowl, salad tongs, maybe a pretty small pitcher for pouring the dressing or a nice dip bowl. Have fun!
This lavender syrup is so pretty and it is great with club soda or ice water. Now you can use all those pretty violets growing in the back yard! Make sure to use clean, unblemished flowers! Cook time is an estimate. The kids will love to help with this!
Even if you've never canned before, the ease and simplicity of using this sauce will encourage you to preserve its flavor with a boiling-water bath! Grab a jar off the shelf and dinner is ready in minutes! From Southern Living magazine. This would make a great gift, in a basket with pasta, a wooden spoon, some wine.....
