All kinds of cake's! Chocolate cakes, fruity cakes, cheesecakes, carrotcakes, if it says cake and I thought it looked delish, it's here! No, I haven't tried them all, but when we have potlucks I pick "something sweet" and practice on my work friends!
Here is a popular dessert in my family. It comes from Naparima Girls' High School cook book. The original calls for almonds which I found to be rather bland. I loved it with brazil nuts. I have also substituted walnuts as it's not everyday I come by brazil nuts. Use which ever are your favourite. The next time I make this I plan to use caramelized pecans.
I found this on Ghirardelli's website. It is my families most favorite chocolate cake of all time. When I make this for my husband I can have anything I want!! This sends him into chocolate euphoria. Eat at your own risk! ;)
A wonderful frosting I have used for years made in very little time with perfect results and 100% better than any canned, this frosting is so good you will find yourself eating a fair amount of it before even using it to frost with! --- choose the amount of cocoa powder you desire for either a light, medium or dark frosting, and make certain to sift the cocoa powder and the confectioners sugar before using for the recipe--- this frosting *freezes* very well so double the recipe and freeze one batch for next time --- *NOTE* for an ultra creamy fluffy milk chocolate frosting add in 1 to 1-1/2 cups thawed Cool Whip topping at the end of mixing the frosting and beat on low speed until blended ------- also see my recipe#80118 ---- recipe#282040 --- recipe#90142
This delectable frosting can be made ahead and refrigerated; if refrigerated, however, it must stand at room temperature to soften before use. If using a hand-held mixer, increase mixing times significantly (at least 50 percent). This recipe can be doubled to make enough for a two-layer cake.
This frosting comes out fluffy and delicious every time! Sweetened condensed milk adds to the rich flavor of this delectable topping. You may not need all the sugar, test the flavor before adding the last few tablespoons. I sometimes leave out a little sugar and have the option of icing a cake, or cakes, or using as a fresh fruit dip.
Simple, buttercream frosting made with orange juice for a tangy twist! Goes wonderfully on lemon cake, or over vanilla or pound cake. Even unusually good on chocolate cake! Thicker than a glaze, but not as stiff as store bought frostings. You can expect it to spread a little when you apply it, but don't worry, in a few moments it will be set in place. Glossy, elegant, and delicious!
This is similar to bakery frosting and so much better than any canned! --- for extra fluffy frosting use heavy cream and make certain to beat for at least 3-5 minutes and remember to sift the confectioners sugar before using. For flavor and color you can add 1-2 envelopes 3-grams each, Duncan Hines Frosting Creations Flavor Mix, any flavor desired.
A special Louisiana dessert so sinfully rich and loaded with flavor. The traditional doberge is made with yellow cake, but this chocolate version kicks it up just a notch. Cooling time not included in preparation time.
