Please don't pass this by because of all the ingredients. It's really very easy and quick. It's also very delicious

    Recipe #43936

Several reviewers complain about the recipe being too sweet and/or too buttery as originally written. I've included the amounts I use, which I think are 'just right'. Also, since I usually don't have pumpkin pie spice in the house, I use 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. nutmeg, 1/4 tsp. cloves and 1/2 tsp. ginger instead. (Tip: Using 2/3 of the cake mix instead of half makes it easy to make 8 cupcakes with the remaining box since the mix calls for 3 eggs.)

I originally submitted this without trying it, as it was in response to a request. I finally got around to trying it last week, and realized there was a mistake, as the ingredients in the cake part should have read: 8 tablespoons butter, melted. Also, you can't "pour" the cake into the pan it has to be patted into the pan like a pie crust. Anyway, here is the revised version. I also cut down on the sugar, using about 12 ounces or 3/4 of the box. This is awesome-a Paula Deen classic!

This is a great yeast coffeecake that I like to make during cherry season. Sometimes I use sweet cherries in place of the sour ones, depending on what's available at the time. Original recipe by Beth Hensperger. NOTES: 1. do not preheat oven, 2. times do not include time to make dough in bread machine, since bread machines vary (my dough cycle takes 1 hour 30 minutes), 3. cooking time includes cooling time

This is a recipe that I got out of a Texas Co-op magazine. It won the Holiday baking grand prize. I have not tried it, but intend to. Thank goodness for Zaar, my personal recipe box!

    Recipe #146821

My cousin just made this for Easter and scribbled it on a scrap piece of paper for me. It is so super moist and super coconut-y! The cook time doesn't include the cake sitting overnight.

    Recipe #477667

Moist, Dense, luscious coffee cake. Nana used to let me add chcoclate chips when we'd make it. My brother preferred the original cinnamon sugar filling, instead. Mmmmm I miss her!

    Recipe #345710

Yes, this cake is made with beets! And you won't believe how great it is. I got the recipe from a friend who said it is the most requested cake in her family. Even the kids want it for their birthday cake. I baked it for one of our family gatherings and now, I get lots of requests for it too. The batter looks red, but the red bakes out. I use an almond flavored frosting on it sometimes. Other times I just serve it with homemade whipped cream.

Next best to the original! On our visit to the Caribbean, we brought home the best Rum Cake I've ever had.... in fact it's the very best of all cakes I've ever had!!! I then thought I'd send for some to be shipped to us and found the price to be $35 for the med. size ( I paid $18 on the Island) So my search for the recipe began! You can not purchase Tortuga Rum ANYWHERE except in the Caribbean - Whaler's Vanille Rum should be a close match. This next best copy-cat comes from Newsgroup Rec.food.recipes.

    This is from my MIL.

As if the chocolate bundt cake isn't yummy enough, this has a "tunnel" of cream cheese filling with chocolate chips and fresh raspberries added to make it even more decadent!

    Recipe #63073

This is super easy and a yummy cross between a pudding and a cake.

    Recipe #213873

This recipe was published in Relish Magazine, a food 'section' that comes in one of the local newspapers! It's original name was Kory's Carrot Cake & is the creation of a firefighting pastry chef by the name of Kory Rollison! Preparation time includes neither the time needed for the baked cake to cool to room temperature nor the time the layers are refrigerated overnight.

This is an old Czech recipe for Poppy Seed Cake that was given to me by a dear friend's Czech grandmother.

Found this recipe on Grassroots Recipes Mastercook Collections by Deirdre Dee Cox. It states that the original recipe came from a GI who found it in Egypt when he was stationed there. The whipped cream frosting was added later but really adds to the recipe. Posted for ZWT6.

    Recipe #422428

This delicious cream cheese frosting recipe came with the Sprinkles Pumpkin Cupcake mix that I purchased from the Williams-Sonoma catalogue, and baked over the holidays this year. Sprinkles cupcakes have been featured on Oprah as one of her favorite things and, having eaten more than a few while I was in California last year, I would definitely have to agree! I have made other cream cheese frostings before but this one was the best in my opinion. Although it is featured with the pumpkin cupcake, I think it would pair equally well with a spice cake. This recipe generated enough to very generously cover 12 cupcakes. Use the best cream cheese, butter, cinnamon, and vanilla you have. I hope you enjoy it as much we did!

I just watched Marcela Valladolid make this on the foodnetwork and I just about fell out of bed it looked so good. (Yes, out of bed because the show is aired too early in the morning ;o) ) I usually have all the ingredients on hand to make this cake so I'll be getting out of bed soon and might have a slice for breakfast. The flan and the cake batter switch positions while the cake bakes, resulting in a cake with choclate cake on the bottom, and flan on the top. I have changed the cooking time from 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes. Please use the toothpick test to check for doneness.

Taken from the magazine section of the 2/7/10 Sunday newspaper. I haven't made this yet, but it sounds yummy!

I saw a picture of this in BHG and knew right then I needed to make this. Does not include time for cooling and standing.

    Recipe #179588

My MIL's recipe -- Another cake from the great state of Texas that my family has enjoyed for about 40 years -- This cake is made with more butter, and 1 cup of sour cream, instead of the 1/2 cup called for in most recipes here on Zaar. ******NOTE: Feel free to make this cake the day before you plan to serve -- as some of the reviewers have mentioned, it is even better the day after baking! ****** Can also be baked in two 9-inch layers (metal pans) at 350F for 25-30 minutes!
