A simple, but sophisticated, flourless chocolate cake, subtly perfumed with Cointreau (orange liqueur). If you serve a dollop of softly-whipped cream on the side, you'll have a truly impressive dessert.
There are other similar recipes, but this one is simply spectacular! I think it's because I have added an extra layer of the "frosting" to the middle. As if it needed to be richer... This recipe is from Paula Deen and I have simply doubled the frosting and just added another layer within the cake. As with other Eclair Cakes, this one is better if it sits in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours. Hard to resist digging in any sooner!
This was my Grandma's recipe. I believe it dates back to the depression. A moist and versatile cake that will please everyone. Really good with recipe #182807 or for strawberry shortcake or pineapple upside-down cake. You can double the recipe for a 10x13 pan or triple the recipe for a 12x16 pan.
Lemon desserts are for me what chocolate desserts are for chocoholics. These are mildly rather than aggressively lemony. I figure 7/8 cup flour by filling a 1 cup measure, then removing 2 tablespoons. 1 Tbs grated lemon zest is approximately one lemon's worth of peel. By the way, the frosting is also good on carrot cake.
This is the best coffee cake, it has a layer of blueberries between two layers of the most wonderful moist buttery cake then topped with a sweet buttery topping --- you could substitute 1 cup sour cream for the cream cheese but the cream cheese is better, also almond extract can be used in place of vanilla --- I serve this cake slightly warm with ice cream and it is even better the next day --- you will love this cake! :)
This amazingly moist and delicious cake is adapted from a favorite family recipe of Bianca Henry, a New York pastry instructor. You'll need a thin skewer to poke holes in the cake. Serve the cake garnished with slices of peeled oranges macerated with a little sugar and rum. From Fine Cooking, issue #30.
These are so good. When inverted onto a rack, all the gooey good stuff is on the top. This recipe makes 12 cupcakes, but my advise is make a double recipe of these delicious cupcakes, they will be gone in a flash!
I adopted this recipe in the RecipeZaar recipe adoption. Although I have not made it yet, Susie in Tx has and she made some great suggestions in her review. Please take a look and give this cake a try.
