I originally submitted this without trying it, as it was in response to a request. I finally got around to trying it last week, and realized there was a mistake, as the ingredients in the cake part should have read: 8 tablespoons butter, melted. Also, you can't "pour" the cake into the pan it has to be patted into the pan like a pie crust. Anyway, here is the revised version. I also cut down on the sugar, using about 12 ounces or 3/4 of the box. This is awesome-a Paula Deen classic!
My cousin brought this EASY cake to our annual family reunion and I have served it often for almost every occassion imaginable. It is so rich that guests are sure it took days to make when actually, it takes less than 45 minutes. It is YUMMY!
NOTE: Although the cake is great any time of the year, the coloring makes it a marvelous treat for HALLOWEEN!
Your guests will never know it is made from a package, this cake is so easy to put together, it takes only about 5 minutes, there is no creaming any butter or sugar, everything is mixed in just one bowl, and is it just delicious! Can use nuts also in place of chocolate chips, or use three quarters cups each.
Would love to take credit for this great recipe, but it was actually found in Taste of Home New Cake Mix Creations cookbook. The dessert verges on 'decadent!' Preparation time does not include either the time for the cake to cool to room temperature or for the pudding-topped cake to chill in the refrigerator.
One more great recipe from Taste of Home New Cake Mix Creations cookbook -- This one is high on my list of delicious desserts! Preparation time does not include time for the cake to cool to room temperature.
Easy to make tasty orange cake starting with a yellow cake mix, and baked in a spring form pan for pretty presentation. From Family Circle Fast Meals Cookbook, a treasured 1972 cook book from my collection.
