This is delicious! It is a low fat recipe, without the low fat taste. The exotic spices of garam masala make this dish excellent to serve at any time. I cut the chicken breasts up so that the meat can absorb the wonderful spices easier. This is fabulous!

    Recipe #163665

I've used this at potlucks and dinner parties. It serves 12 people, so feel free to adjust to your needs. The dressing shouldn't be added until just before serving. Prep time includes the sitting time for the dressing!

    Recipe #343170

This is a good curry dish. It also looks very pretty...good enough for company! Serve it with sweet and/or spicy chutney! Although the recipe says it serves 4, I think it serves 6. You could also use this recipe for curried shrimp by substituting 1 1/4 lbs shelled and deveined shrimp. Enjoy!

    Recipe #328929

In India, this recipe is known as malai murgh. The chicken simmers in a thick, spicy coconut sauce. If you want to use skinless chicken, you can, but please use bone in for best flavor. Wonderful for serving with Chapati, Indian flat bread.

    Recipe #482473

The original recipe calls for halibut, but I think you can use any firm white fish with a mild flavor.. Cooking the spice paste briefly before adding the liquid deepens the flavor of the sauce. Serve this dish over basmati rice. Cooking time depends on the thickness of your fish. Cook until it flakes easily.

    Recipe #482618

Red kidney beans are very nutritious. They are, however, harder to digest than other beans, which is why they're traditionally cooked with seasonings that help break them down, such as ginger. Use spices that are as fresh as possible--their health benefits, let alone their flavors, will be more potent that way. Garam masala is a mixture of warming spices; find it at Indian grocery stores or gourmet groceries. From Sunset. Cooking time does not include the time needed to cook your rice or cook dried beans, if using.

    Recipe #482631

I highly recommend making the samosa filling the morning or night before serving to save time when you actually prepare this meal. Adapted from Cooking Light. This says it serves 12, but if you have teenage boys or people with heartier appetites, they will probably want two each.

    Recipe #482642

This is a good recipe to make for someone just trying Indian food. This version came from Sunset March 2001. Feel free to add more jalapeno if you like it hotter, or add some cayenne pepper after tasting.

    Recipe #482614

Chutney's are very common in Indian meals. This chutney goes very well with Lamb or Pork Korma or Recipe #482473 482473.

    Recipe #482649

This is a milk pudding that is served in India at open houses or for dessert. To keep a "skin" from forming on the top of the pudding while it is cooling, carefully place a piece of clear plastic wrap or waxed paper directly on the surface of the hot pudding. After the pudding has cooled, remove the paper and spoon the pudding into dessert dishes. Chilling time is not included in cooking or prep time.

    Recipe #482653

In the 16th century the Turkish Mongois settled in the northern plains of India, bringing with them their Moghul cuisine. It is famous for splendid yogurt and cream sauces, the delicate use of highly fragrant spices, and distinctive cooking methods for meat dishes. Korma is the cooking method of braising the meat. Lamb is hard to come by here, so I've subbed pork successfully. Serve with hot cooked rice and Recipe #482649 482649.

    Recipe #482646

Ghee is used in preparing many Indian dishes. This is an easy way to make it yourself. Just watch carefully while it's on the stove.

    Recipe #482648

Chapati is the most commonly eaten bread in Northern India. It is very similar in shape to the Mexican tortilla, but very different in texture and flavor. If you make Chapati ahead of time, reheat before serving by wrapping a stack in foil and heat in a 325° oven for 10 to 15 minutes. If they seem dry, sprinkle a little water before reheating. Prep time does include dough standing time. Serve with Recipe #482643 482643.
