All the flavors of Autumn combined into one scrumptious bread. This tastes great with coffee or tea! I make this using Egg Beaters and unsweetened applesauce in place of half the oil to make it healthier. Prep time includes cooling time.
These fabulous rolls are wonderful stuffed with your favorite sandwich ingredients. This is one of those recipes that is not hard to make...but makes you feel a great sense of accomplishment when looking at the finished product. You can either make them into a tight knot, pretzel shape or simple bun shape. The recipe is a combined effort from Thorsten, his German baker friend, and myself. The dough also makes great pretzels. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did! Scoring the top with an X has some cool results as well! BEER PAIRING: Live Oak Pilz, a Bohemian-style pilsner, is perfect with these rolls!
There is a fantastic restaurant in Springfield, MO where they throw the most delicious rolls at you before, during and after your meal. This is a copy cat recipe of those exact rolls. If you get the chance, visit the restaurant. If not, try these rolls anyway. They are so very good!
This is a bakery-quality bread that is on regular rotation at my house and has been so for many years it is one of my family's favorite breads, because of the addition of egg the rising time will be slightly longer than usual --- there is very little sugar and no butter or shortening in this bread which gives this bread a spongy-like texture, perfect for dipping! If you are a jalapeño lover then by all means add in as much jalapeño peppers as you desire, this bread does not require forming into a loaf shape just shape into two large balls which makes it an easy recipe for a beginner baker :)
The mixture of Yoghurt and Honey is delightful. Of all my bread recipes, this is the family favorite. Note: some folks think the rolls are a little sweet, some have suggested cutting the honey back by half.
My dear friend Lisa made this one day and brought it to work to share. I BEGGED and pleaded her for the recipe because it was so yummy and delish! I was shocked at just how simple it is when she emailed it to me. She got it somewhere on the web- she thought it was cdkitchen. Hope you enjoy it!
Nothing beats homemade muffins fresh off the griddle. These are light and airy. The recipe calls for 1 package dry yeast, depending on how active your sourdough is you may choose to eliminate it. As all sourdough is somewhat different experiment and see what works best for you. I use an Alaskan sourdough recipe. For mixing the dough I used my Kitchenaid Mixer and dough hook. This recipe comes from Best of the Best from Alaska Cookbook and I have made minor adjustments for personal taste.
A small pat of butter is enclosed in the center of these fabulous rolls before baking. The top is also brushed with additional melted butter to produce a softer crust. Rising time is not included in prep time. This is one of my favorites!
My friends kept telling me (those in Jordan), that this was too hard, it's much easier to buy. But back in the states, you can't get good flat bread. But I found someone who shared their recipe with me, and it's very similar to what I used to buy.
The Fastenwähe or Fastenwaje is a carnival caraway-seed pretzel. We get to enjoy it in the region of Basel only around this time of year.
The Fastenwähe made it's very first appearance way back in the year 1554 in the Swiss Rheinfelden 20 km away from Basel (Switzerland).
