This recipe is from Bird Watcher's Digest. I prefer using peanut butter because it doesn't melt outdoors in the summertime like grease does and birds love it! Cooking time does not include overnight refrigeration.
This is how we use stale bread, bagels, doughnuts, hamburger buns, etc in the winter time...have lots of beautiful birds to visit the backyard...you can use your choice of birdseed to dip the buns in...
this is great to hang outside for the birds...if you can keep the squirrels away..I like to make and give this as gifts to my friends..always a hit..you will need to save the mesh bags, like onions or potato bags for this recipe..you may use other dried fruit that raisins..
This is a great holiday gift for your feather friends. Will attract woodpeckers, chickadees, titmouse, nuthatches, mockingbirds. I've also added fresh or dried berries to the mixture. Make as much as you want just remember to keep it chilled because it will go rancid. Get the kids involved so they can make for gifts or a girl or boy scout project.
