This is how my Granny made sweet tea and it is some kind of sweet. Know that and beware. Pa-Paw used to down 2-3 glasses after working in the garden all day. Back off the sugar if you can't handle it. This one is for true southerners only ;)
I have tried to make iced coffee before but it never tasted like my favorite from Dunkin Donuts! I finally realized they were added as much milk as they were coffee, and extra sugar. Often, later in the day, after the coffee in the carafe is not so hot, I make these as a refreshing drink. You can also add a tablespoon or so of flavored creamer, like amaretto, hazelnut, etc. for some variety.
WOW! We served these for breakfast on Thanksgiving -- they were good! They are strong so beware. The recipe came from Southern Living and is served at the Bottega Italian Restaurant in Birmingham, Alabama.
I just watched this being made on 'Semi-Homemade' on FoodTV. It looks delicious and I have to post it. The original recipes states to use 1/2 cup of instant cinnamon-flavored cappuccino or coffee mix but I just couldn't get that through the Zaar editing process!
