It's always time for tea! Or coffee! Or something a little more exciting (i.e something with a kick)!
Beverages are my favourite thing in the whole world. Right now I probably have over forty boxes of tea sitting in my pantry. Gosh.
But when it's time for something other than tea from a box, here are some lovely ideas.
A malty, sharp, chilly & hot breathtaking blast of flavor we used to
enjoy poolside in Phoenix. Recipe from the
Cafe Terra Cotta in Tucson. Later the Black Mountain Brewing Company in Cave Creek began brewing their own Chili Beer with a whole Serrano chili in the bottle, an equally good poolside libation.
This triple sec-free recipe was inspired by one from Tommy's Mexican Restaurant in San Francisco. Just remember, fresh is best - See variations at end of instructions! Try one or make them all! Taken from Bon Appetit May '12.
A little something I put together to get my DM to eat a decent breakfast, she refused to eat cereal out of a bowl or eat fruit but put the lot in a blender (or use stab blender) with milk and it was gobble, gobble, gobble. I mainly use tinned fruit - peaches, fruit salad, pears, apricots, mango or fresh banana or equivelent of canned for fresh.
When we bought our home in AZ, an old bartender's book was left for us-dating from 1967. I wonder why they left it for us? DH and I like this highball-that is what they call it in the book. And it has cranberry juice in it so it must be good for you, :) too.
A friend just gave me this recipe and I made it up as an alternative for our workday morning coffee. Although it's recommended for iced coffee, it works equally well for hot coffee -- and it's EXTREMELY easy to put together in the morning, since you don't have to fuss with equipment or with cleaning. My husband's view (he's the coffee drinker in the family) was that it made very good hot coffee, but GREAT iced coffee.
