Unlike American pancakes, the Australian pikelets can be purchased ready-made in grocery stores. You can eat the cold or hot and they are typically topped with cream, jam, fruit or butter and sugar! They are handle for snacks and lunches. I found these on an Australian website. Enjoy!
This recipe comes from the Food Network. The recipe is a favorite throughout South America. Some regions serve these as dessert, but they can also fried until puffy and served as a side dish, like a bread serving, which the extras would then later be sprinkled with cinnamon/sugar or honey and served as a dessert (depending on regional preferences). The sopapillas we had for dessert recently at a Mexican restaurant included the cinnamon/sugar dusting on cooled sopapillas which were then topped with a generous dollop of whipped cream and a touch of strawberry sauce drizzled over the whipped cream. It was delicious! Prep time does not include chilling time.
A wonderfully sweet chocolate chai. Makes your tea a little more exciting. Note: I especially like alwalde's suggestion to cut back on the milk. Please take that change into consideration when preparing.
Broccoli is loaded with lots of vitamins A and C and several minerals, it is one of the most healthful veggies. This is a spiced up version that is low in fat and not low on flavor. The recipe comes from Williams Sonoma Essentials of Healthful Cooking.
A recipe I found at Taste of Home that I plan to try in the near future, especially since DH all of the sudden likes to grill them. Here is what the author states: "Erica Svejda of Janesville, Wisconsin starts preparing this entree the night before she wants to grill it. "This is a fabulous marinade with a unique flavor," she writes. "It is one of the only ways our family eats pork chops."
Are you craving that great Mexican rice from your favorite taco stand? Here it is. This is just like a good Mexican restaurant rice. Many recipes taste good... but the texture just isn't right. You know how it is... you have prepared scores of Mexican rice recipes but always have been disappointed. It may be delicious but kinda "gloopy and wet." Try this. Everything is pureed and cooked in. There are no chunks of anything... just dry fluffy rice with all the seasonings and just the tiniest hint of a tomato flavor. I will throw away all of my Mexican rice recipes- this is the one I have been looking for for years!
I don't own a rice cooker but some people have had disappointing results using one. You will also need to adjust your cooking time if you want to use brown rice. I recommend following the cooking instructions as directed. Proceed at your own peril if you stray.
A tasty, healthy crock pot recipe that you will love to come home to on those chilly days. This is also a great meal to freeze in individual servings to take to work or school. I like to actually rinse the ground beef after it's browned. It is extra lean, but I always think if you can lower the fat and it still tastes great, then why not? Enjoy!
You like banana bread, right? How about pumpkin bread? This dense, moist, 100% whole wheat bread combines those two flavors in one tasty loaf. Note: Using a scant cup (7 1/2 ounces) pumpkin is fine; that way, you can get two recipes out of a single 15-ounce can of puree.
Freezes nicely, but doesn't last long. We buy the large packages of ground turkey at a warehouse club and make up a big batch, to save time and money. Garlic is thought to help boost the immune system, so don't be shy with it. The cloves should be fresh and firm, and when mashed (with the side of the knife) and chopped they should smell sweet and not too pungent.
This is a chicken and pasta stir fry that is a bit spicy. I don't find it to be too hot, but if you have a tender mouth, I'd skip the chili oil and reduce the crushed red peppers. I like to use spaghetti, but the original recipe called for linguine. Recipe torn out of a newspaper from St. Petersburg, FL....no author mentioned. The secret to making this recipe easy is to have everything chopped and placed in order of addition to the wok, so your cooking time flows easily and smoothly.
