    Best of 2010

2010 was a super busy year for me so I was unable to review many Zaar recipes. However, the ones I did try were great! Here are my family's favorites. Something for everyone.

Trying to stay away from the coffee shops and make my own drinks and save money!!

    Recipe #415097

A recipe by Paul Prudhomme. I love the idea of a one dish meal made with ground beef. Chef Prudhomme's Meat Magic can be effectively substituted with any Cajun or Creole seasoning mix. Everyone needs a one-dish recipe for an everyday meal!

I adapted this recipe from a Penzeys Spices recipe. The Penzeys recipe had the Cheese as an option but in my book the cheese is a must!

    Recipe #119156

This dish was served at Governor John Y. Brown's pre-Derby breakfast. From a May 1982 issue of Bon Appetit in the "Bon Voyage" section that featured recipes from Kentucky. Cheese grits are also great with ham!

Wonder, rich, and something people don't expect. You will have people wanting this recipe once you serve it. There are variation at the end that makes it even richer.

    Recipe #243205

This is an incredibly tasty way prepare a pork tenderloin. I could not get over how delicious it was. Even my young kids like it. The amount of chili powder is deceiving, I thought it would be very spicy and it was not. Absolutely perfect for company! Serve with buttered noodles, baked apple sauce and you're good to go! Enjoy. NOTE: 6-8 hour marination time required

I came up with this recipe because I couldn't find one that had all of the flavors I was looking for. I think the result is pretty delicious and the people I have served it to, all french onion soup elitists, have declared it one of the best they have had. I hope you will give it a shot!

A very easy quiche, that you can "muck around" with. Great way to use up any withering veggies or cold meat, or even cheese, in the fridge or freezer. Great for lunch, brunch, dinner, a snack after school, even breakfast!!! My daughter got this recipe while teaching in Wallumbilla, everyone there wanted to feed her, she had a great time!!!

I saw this at the doctor's office in a Family Fun magzine and thought it was so cute, I'm posting it here!

Posted in response to a query about the best way to prepare carbonara. I use Jamie Olivers recipe for Penne Carbonara, which is in "Happy Days With The Naked Chef". This is another of his recipes, using the same technique with slightly different ingredients. I have always found Jamies recipes to be simple and easy to prepare, I enjoy his cheerful approach to cooking! Hope that you enjoy it!

These truly are the best chocolate chip cookies that I've ever made. The chilling instructions before baking and the standing afterwards are very important steps. The texture turns out perfect.
