Haven't gotten to make this yet but I saw Paula Deen's show today and my mouth was just watering. YUM! Paula's show was on "Elvis's favorite foods with a twist". This meatloaf was one of the recipes and I thought I would share it with everyone.
This is a different way to serve your favorite steak. The sauce is wonderful. The original recipe is said to be French Cuisine by Debra Weber and I changed it some for us, so not sure if it is still considered French. Hope you enjoy
Round steak is not known for its tenderness.
This recipe can be used over noodles, rice,
cous cous and great over fried potato rounds.
Slow cooking in the oven but you can use slow cooker also, just add two hours.Any tough cuts of meat can be used including pork.
With DH being a diabetic, I am always looking for ways to add veggies into the diet. I found a recipe on the web and did some adjusting to suit our taste. The recipe calls for ground turkey; however, extra-lean ground beef also works well. Top with Creole Sauce recipe #149159 for a fabulous main course! These can be frozen, defrosted in the refrigerator and warmed as needed making this a great recipe for small families or when preparing a meal for one.
From the Texas Beef Council posted for the Greek portion of the Zaar World Tour. Feel free to up the seasonings on the beef if you like it really flavorful. As Saraghina states, leftover roast would be great here too!
I have made this for years and everyone loves it. I add more tomato sauce then called for and spices depending how spicy you like it. I also double the recipe so we can eat it more than one day. I also use 3-15 oz cans of tomato sauce based on me doubling this recipe and because we like it juicy.
If you would like you can top with shredded cheddar cheese..
I make this with grilled cheese and pb&j spriral's for a complete meal.
If you want to up the heat, add a can of chili's and put more chili powder
My very "EASY" favorite dinner. A 30 minute-meal that tastes better the 2nd day so leftovers are met with a cheer, not a groan! Bet you already have all the ingredients in your pantry. This is so good even DH, who doesn't like peanuts, loves it, and my finicky 10 year old, too. It presents nicely on a bed of rice topped with fresh chives, and serve with Asparagus Bundles #111515 for a nice contrast of flavor. Says serves 6, but serves my family of 4. I usually double the recipe. (F/Uncle Ben's) NOTE-5/17-Made tonight and doubled, and added RICE to the final product, letting it simmer until cooked. Even BETTER! Many thanks to LENNIE for photo.
I make this for the "boys" every year during the deer hunt. They talk about it the rest of the year! I like the rich creamy flavor too! This is a little work, but it could easily become a holiday tradition!
